Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is a 1969 Rickman Metisse Mk IV with a fresh 1970 Triumph 500 T100R motor. The frame number is 1825 and is a signature Rickman brothers nickle plated chrome-moly steel construction with the engine oil in the frame. I picked this bike up in 1985 because I needed a fast, nimble ride to navigate the congested Silicon Valley traffic I faced daily on my commute to San Jose Jaguar from Sunnyvale. The bike was in sad shape when I got it, so I took it completely apart, rebuilt the motor, had the frame stripped and re-plated, adapted KZ550 wheels and brakes and added lights, horn, speedo and turn signals for safety. I drove it almost every day for four years until I moved back east and the only problem it ever gave me were numerous traffic violations. Shortly after settling into my new home I was enjoying the great back roads on Maryland's Eastern Shore when I pushed it a little hard and broke a con rod. It sat in my garage for several years until I got around to putting in a rebuilt 1970 T100R full roller crank motor. (I have the original motor). Over the years the bike went through some refinements. In the past year the bike was completely disassembled and put back together with many new parts including; .020 over pistons, tires, front brake pads, front brake master cylinder, handle bar and grips, handle bar switches, lithium-ion battery, LED tail light and turn signals, chain and rear sprocket, ignition switch, and updated tappet adjusters. The front brake caliper was rebuilt. It has a Boyer electronic ignition and solid state rectifier/regulator. The fluids have all been changed and valves, timing and carb adjusted. The fiberglass gas tank has been sealed with Caswell Epoxy Sealer. There are some spare parts that go with the bike, including a chain adjuster set. See pictures. When I first got the bike I didn't realizes it's significance, otherwise I would have hung onto the wire wheels and air box. I got the bike and made it so I could enjoy riding it on a daily basis not just when I could trailer it to the mountains or desert. It makes a great daily driver requiring only one kick to make it start. It's fun and fast and handles well, and gets a lot of looks and comments. I'm seventy years old now and don't ride as much as I once did. Since I retired a couple years back after fifty years of being a European car MECHANIC, I've been rebuilding old British and Japanese motorcycle barn finds, which brings me a lot of joy, and is easier on my body. It's now time for the Rickman to move on to someone who will enjoy her and ride her more often. The bike is being sold as-is. The new owner will be responsible for pick up and shipping from my location on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I will assist however I can to make sure the bike gets to the new owner safely. Payment will be $500.00 to Paypal within 24 hours of auction closing, the remainder due to me within seven days. The bike has a clear MD title and is ready to ride. Bike is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. Thanks for looking, bidding. If you have any questions call Chuck at 410-422-6590.
