Vehicle Detail
. RARE 1966 FORD MUSTANG FACTORY A CODE V8 CAR PRICE The reserve is less than the buy it now price and I am open to reasonable offers. I also have it listed in a local ad. EBAY FEEDBACK Ebay feedback is extremely important . I have received xlnt comments from others whom have bought cars from us and most of the cars we listed have sold prior to auctions scheduled end date to buyers that used the Buy It Now feature. I am not a dealer . I am merely selling off a large collection of cars we have had for years and some of our relatives cars that don't have an Ebay account, however, I am a mechanic and professional vintage car restorer and some of the cars I had sold for world record prices. FEATURES A code body Front disc brakes with dual master cylinder Automatic transmission Emergency flasher Two speed wipers Factory sun-x tinted windows Magnum 500 rims 15" x 7" The A means that it was a factory 4 barrel car and it has the same engine and body code as a factory GT which makes it significantly more mare and valuable than a C code 2 barrel engine car. One could easily add the GT fog lights and GT rear valance and have an authentic GT clone if they wanted and I even have a nice used GT light bar I would sell cheap if someone wants it. VEHICLE TITLE This car has a salvaged/reconstructed title . If you live outside the USA, it is my understanding that you do not use a title when importing a car and you just use the import documents that the government from the country the car is exported from gives you . If this is the case, there will not be any record of the title being a salvaged type. If you are in another country this is not relevant to you because you do not use the title for any reason, you only use the paperwork the US government gives you to import and register it. There are may reasons a vehicle gets a title like this, so before you automatically pass on the car, I will explain why it appears this car got this type of title and also what I was told . Around 30 years ago, the car was stopped in the driving lane of a parking lot waiting for a parking space and a car backed out and hit it . Since it was hit in a parking lot, the speed with which it was hit was extremely slow so it did not cause any frame damage etc, and I personally verified this because I am an expert on body repair . The dent was primarily in the right rear quarter panel behind the wheel arch, therefore, the wheel arch is still in perfect condition which is important because this area is difficult to repair properly. Even though the dent could have easily been fixed by a good body guy, the body shop said it would be easier to install a new quarter panel, which of course puts more money in their pocket because it is a more expensive repair . After the metal was repaired, it would need to be painted, and because the paint was a little faded, they would also have had to blend it into the door which adds even more to the cost . At the time the car got dented, Mustangs were still not worth very much, however, the repair costs had increased dramatically in California due partially to the California Environmental Protection Agency, which was charging enormous fees for permits, and due to rising wages and rapid property inflation, which increased shop space rent for the repair shops, therefore, the repair cost was more than the insurance agency though it was worth to fix it so they bought it from the owner then sold it themselves to recoup some of the money they paid the owner. Since someone bought the car from the insurance company instead of it going to the scrap yard, it is obvious that it wasn't heavily damaged, otherwise, it would not have been worth buying since they didn't cost much back then. BODY CONDITION Here's the good part . The body on this car has ZERO rust through and ZERO bondo, and with the exception of the dent in the rear which was mostly pulled out, the sides of the car are laser straight with not dents or door dings, and the doors and trunk lid all line up as good as they did when the car was new . The rocker panels are laser straight underneath and so are the trunk floors, even on the side that had the dent . All the fender aprons are all perfect and straight . The frame rails are straight, however, there is a typical dent in the bottom of the drivers rail where someone jacked the car up with a bottle jack, but the majority of the Mustangs left in the world have this same exact type of dent. The car lived in the California desert all of its life so there is no excessive rust in the seams from salt air from the ocean etc. Every single body panel is the same one that originally came on the car with the date codes and factory spot welds clearly visible. All the jambs and bottom side of the hood and inside of the trunk still have the ORIGINAL paint on them. The primer on the exterior is extremely thin so it can not hide anything and was put on the car to protect the body because the hot California sun had baked the original paint so it was thin in several areas and worn through in some others, but the original paint is still under the primer. The floor pans are in xlnt condition and I posted photos of them from both inside the car and underneath it . I also wiped the dirt off the bottom side of the drivers floor pan to show the original paint they used . The bottom side of the floors have never been spray canned anywhere at all, so what you see in the photo is the original red oxide primer which then got a little white over spray on it when Ford painted the body white and then it got black paint sprayed on the majority of it when Ford painted the bottom edge of the rocker panels. ENGINE The miles on the engine are unknown, however, it starts quickly and idles smoothly and never has any lifter noise and never smokes . The carburetor is rebuilt and the timing was properly set for optimum performance instead of to the lame factory stock emissions era spec. It has a stock camshaft so it does not have a rough idle. FRONT SUSPENSION The tie rods and idler arm do not look like they have any play so they are useable. The upper ball joints and inner tie rod bushings have a little wear and should be replaced . This is an easy job, but if you can't do it yourself, I may do it for you at a small additional cost and will sell you the parts at my wholesale cost. TRANSMISSION It shifts perfectly and does not slip. BRAKES They work perfectly and do not bleed down when at a stop and do not need to be pumped . The front pads are nearly new and the rotors are smooth . The rear shoes are around 1/2 way used and the drums are smooth. TIRES The rears have around 90% tread left but the fronts are worn out.
