I have owned this 1997 4runner since 2006 and it has been never let me down. I would be confident in driving my 4runner anywhere. The 4WD works perfectly in both high and low. I put an new exhaust system on it in October of 2016 and new front brakes in June of 2015. I never have towed anything more that 10 miles and even that was only a few times. Interior is has some scratches and there is a crack in the middle armrest, but otherwise it is pretty nice. What the 4runner needs: New radio antena or repair the original antena. Only one speaker is working. (suspecting wiring issue). Rust on the back of the back passenger door of the driver side. (see photos). Small rust areas at the passenger door sill. The rear window opens and closes, but I only open it a few inches for air as it some time will get stuck if I roll it down too far. There is no carpet in the back cargo area due to a leaky car battery I was transporting to the recycling center. This has been the best vehicle I ever had, but we are now in need of a larger 3rd row vehicle. This is a great vehicle for a 20 year old truck.
