Vehicle Detail
I have owned this car for almost 40 years. I purchased it in 1978 in Vancouver Washington. It was stored at my grandmother's house in Camas Washington until 1979 when it was 15 years old and I could legally import it to Canada where I lived. It was pretty cool being 20 years old and having the only Jaguar in the Yukon Territory. Most people there had never seen one before. I drove it on nice days in the summer for a couple of years until the brakes got so bad it was unsafe to drive. I then stored it in an aircraft hanger until 1984 when I moved to Chilliwack British Columbia. It was stored in a 10x30 indoor storage unit for about a year and a half until I got a house with a garage and moved it there. In 1994 I moved to Bend Oregon and of course, brought the car with me and stored it in my garage. I rebuilt the carbs a few times over the years just so I could hear it run now and again. In 2005 I decided to restore the car. The only thing I was missing from the car were the rear bumper uprights and the chrome trim for the rear window. It was still a running and driving car. My plan was to put a modern engine in it so that I could drive it on a regular basis, so I dismantled it and sold several parts that I thought I would not use. Fuel pump, manifolds, starter, generator, distributor, carbs, filter box, cylinder head, (not matching) and several other small parts. Everything I sold was sold on eBay so you can see all the items in my feedback under "items sold" (around 20 items). I used the money to buy a bunch of new parts, mostly from Terry's Jaguar Parts. I bought and installed original, rocker panels, floor pans and rear trunk pan. I also purchased numerous other items like interior panels, carpets, lenses, ball joints, bearings, bolt kits, windshield, etc. In 2007 I got an opportunity to start a business from home, but required the use of my garage, so I boxed everything up and moved it all to the back room in my garage where it has sat, still inside, untouched for 10 years. As I matured, (got older) I began to appreciate the car for what it is and now realize that it needs to be restored to its original glory for future generations to appreciate true automotive engineering, and art! All but the large parts are wrapped in bubble wrap, foam or newsprint, boxed, bagged and labeled. All but the bare metal pictures were taken last week. I have about 120 pictures of all parts I can send on request. I would be happy to work with you and do whatever it takes to make it ready and safe for transport. I On Mar-06-17 at 07:10:04 PST, seller added the following information: I aw working on loading additional pictures to "keeping track of every e-type" web page under the vin number. May take a couple of days but i'll get them in On Mar-06-17 at 14:13:23 PST, seller added the following information: click the following link to see the additional 130 + pictures https://sites.google.com/view/64jaguarxke/homeOn Mar-08-17 at 06:52:21 PST, seller added the following information: Please do not bid on this car if you are not a serious buyer! Any form of payment will need to clear the bank before you take possession of the car as per eBay rules. No Exceptions. On Mar-11-17 at 21:18:55 PST, seller added the following information: To be clear. I am trying to give as much information as possible based on questions I have received over the past week. I do not want to mislead anyone. This is not a matching numbers car. I do not have the heritage numbers. (did not even know what that was until a few days ago). The original number plate is missing. (was on the car when i purchased it 39 years ago. Removed to clean and paint stuff about 30 years ago and now missing). I have all the customs paperwork where I imported it to Canada in 1979 and the US customs paperwork when I brought it back to The US in 1994. I know the head did not match as I remember checking the numbers on the tag. The body tag number is still riveted on and intact, and I'm sure is correct. (Matches sequence of car VIN numbers previous and later). The engine block now appears to match the cylinder head that I sold so would not be correct for the car but is a 3.8L. Not sure on gearbox numbers but I know it is a non syncro first gear. I do have a clean title in hand. I believe the original color was JAG7409A Opalescent Dark blue as it had not been repainted when I bought it and that seems to be the only dark blue metallic color that they used on that year.
