NON PAYING BIDDERS This car just met reserve on Ebay a few days ago, however the winner never paid for it and never asked me a single question about the car and never saw it in person even though I was available to show it every day it was advertised and afterwards . They simply bid on it then disappeared . If you are not certain you want it, please don't bid on it . It costs a lot of hard earned money to put a car ad on Ebay and unfortunately they do NOT reimburse all the listing fees if someone does not pay for an item. PRICE The reserve is less than the "Buy It Now" price. This is a beautiful, fully loaded, 1996 Mercury Cougar XR7 . This model won several awards in 1996. It only had 43,947 original miles on it when we bought it 12 years ago and now has only 83,000 all of which have been 100% trouble free, and these engines commonly go to around 200,000 before needing any type of major work if they have been properly maintained like this one has. STATE EMISSIONS TEST AND ENGINE CONDITION The last time we had an emissions test done was around 3,000 miles ago at which time it was far below the average readings and easily passed . This is an indicator of the overall engine condition. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT All cars after around 1974 have a check engine light . This light must come on when the key is turned to the run position with the engine off . It must go out within 5 seconds once the engine is turned started . If it does not do one or both of these things, it will NOT pass an emissions test and could easily end up costing upwards of $1,000.00 to fix the problem. OWNERSHIP HISTORY I bought this for my wife whom is a non smoker and she mainly only drove it on weekends . The body is perfectly straight and the paint is still very shiny and very nice looking with no peeling or fading, however, it does have a couple small chips in the paint but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance . We put it in the garage every night after she was done using t and it stayed there until she used it again so this minimized its exposure to the weather . We also live in Southern California far from the coast so it has never been driven on salted roads or stored near the beach where the salt in the air could damage it. We are selling it because she was injured and can no longer easily get into it, otherwise we would never let it go. It drives extremely nice with no drifting or wandering on the highway. INTERIOR The interior is very clean and the factory seats have Luxurious cloth inserts with an exotic pattern on them and there are no holes or wear on the cloth . The seat foam is still like new and not compressed from heavy people being in the car . The dash is curved in front of both seats and both it and the door panels look like something from a futuristic space space ship. WINDSHIELD We recently had the original replaced because it developed a small crack from a rock that hit it . The new windshield is DOT approved and tinted with a shade band at the top just like the original one was and is crystal clear with no sand pitting or scratches like a 20 year old one will have. SUSPENSION This has very rare 4 wheel independent suspension with both front and rear sway bars and variable rate springs, and it has an exceptional ride and corners very level, unlike many other cars this size. TIRES They are stock size 215 x 70 - 15 MICHELIN Radials with only around 1,000 miles on them so the tread is like new. ADVERTISEMENTS We also have the original dealer sales brochure which is shown in the photos and has been stored since new and is in perfect condition.
