Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1986 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Brougham. 1986 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CLASSIC BROUGHAM 158,506 miles as of 12/19/16. Original owner, non-smoker (purchased February 1986) Always a Georgia car, solid body, undercarriage clean, straight. Window sticker, all documents and manuals come with car. Drive train is all Original 305 cu in V8, 4bbl engine, 700R4 transmission, limited slip rear axle. Color is Medium Gray Metallic, gray vinyl top, gray cloth interior. I special-ordered this Caprice Classic Brougham with rare options, including F41 sport suspension, 3.08 performance axle, limited slip differential, gauge package, power trunk release, and rear window defrost. The top of the line Brougham package includes vinyl top, power seats & power windows, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, tinted glass, cornering lights. Car has power steering and power brakes. Aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD radio and upgraded rear speakers have been installed. Much of the body was stripped to bare metal and refinished with Southern Polyurethane Epoxy Primer on bare metal, top coat is single stage PPG acrylic enamel with activator in original color, GM Medium Gray Metallic. New bumper filler panels are refinished using correct flexible paint additive. The original badges have not been re-installed. They are in box in the trunk with the door edge trim. Car has recently received the following new items and updates: vinyl top, windshield, door seals, tail pipe, battery tray, water pump, belts, R134a a/c conversion with new correct receiver-dryer, O-rings, and PAG 150 oil. Car starts and drives smoothly and reliably. Power accessories, door locks, gauges, warning lights, horns, and lighting all function properly. Power radio antenna failed a long time ago and is replaced by a new fixed mast type. Brakes are smooth and powerful with no pulsing, grabbing or noise. Genuine GM rear shoulder belt kit installed. Original locking wheel covers are scratch-free. Cruise control does not work, not sure why. All cruise control components are there and have not been modified. Original dash clock stopped working and has been replaced with the standard dash panel insert. Headliner was redone some years back, still holding up well. Sun-visors were also re-covered but are showing some deterioration and could use a re-do. Driver seat cushion has wear at the edges, border area (see photos). Front passenger seat is good, but two buttons have popped off the upholstery. Rear seat is excellent and for many years the seat cushion was kept covered with thick clear vinyl to protect from child seats. Seats are overall very solid. No heavyweight drivers (I’m 180 lb) or passengers. Original carpets are excellent, some wear at driver's foot-well. The top of the dash has some cracks, no pieces missing. Drivers door has two mall chips in paint that have been re-touched (see photos). Trunk liner panels are intact, but have become warped over the years. Original catalytic converter is still in place. Original muffler was replaced with GM OE part some years back and is solid. Tail pipe is new. Early on, I installed Air-Lifts inside the rear coil springs to firm up the suspension for family vacations carrying a full trunk of luggage and a family of 5. New replacement Air-Lifts were installed in Dec. 2014 and provide a nice option to manage rear ride height. This car will stand up to a detailed inspection. It has always been maintained to a high standard, keeping it as original as possible. I drive it several times each week. Mileage may increase slightly. Posted a video on youtube.
