Vehicle Detail

RARE 1966 MUSTANG COUPE FORD EXECUTIVE OWNED WITH A/C P/S DISCS & BENCH SEAT I WILL LOWER THE INITIAL BID PRICE IN A DAY OR SO AFTER I ADD MORE DETAILS AND PHOTOS . SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. THE CAR IS ALSO ADVERTISED IN A LOCAL PAPER. EBAY FEEDBACK AND SELLER HISTORY Please review my Ebay feedback . My wife and I just sold our cherished 1966 Mustang on Ebay and the buyer is very happy with it . We also just sold my sisters Mustang . Both cars sold before the expiration of the auction . I have been in our local Mustang club for 30 years and have worked on them since 1967 so I know these cars very well. QUESTIONS Ask questions BEFORE you buy any car . You don't want to buy one that someone claims is in good condition then have to spend thousands of dollars buying a ton of little AND big things for it. VEHICLE HISTORY This unusual car has been in sunny San Jose California close to where the Ford plant was until 2013 . It has never been stored near the beach or left outdoors for prolonged periods . It was built in the San Jose plant and given to a Ford executive as her daily driver while she worked there . When Ford needed to clear the car from their books she purchased it from them and kept it for many years afterwards . I am listing it on behalf of my sister in law because she is no longer able to drive and she does not have an Ebay account . It has only been owned and driven by women and they babied it and never drove it hard . The oil was changed every 3000 miles and only high zinc type oil was used. TROPHYS It has won several trophies at local show for best original car and they go with the car. OPTIONS It is a factory C code 289 2 barrel V8 . The factory options are power steering, automatic transmission, 2 speed windshield wiper with automatic washer, emergency flasher, disc brakes, factory air conditioning, ultra rare bench seat with fold down arm rest, remote drivers mirror, deluxe wood grain steering wheel, and it had a factory AM 8 Track with factory door speakers but the radio has been upgraded to an AM/FM cassette which fits into the original 8 track bezel. PERFORMANCE These V8 Mustangs run very well but are not extremely fast by today's standards like some people think they are, and the throttle opening can easily be regulated to slow them down which also makes them a good choice for kids too if you are considering buying yours their first car. I have driven it quite a bit and it runs and drives very well well . There are no squeaks or rattles . There is no whine or howling from the differential . There is no hesitation when accelerating . The transmission shifts xlnt . There is no play in the steering and it does not drift or wander on the highway . It pulls strong when you floor it . The car does not pull to either side when braking . There is no whine or chatter in the power steering . There is no smoke when first starting it or upon hard acceleration and there is never any lifter noise and it never runs hot. AIR CONDITIONING It is factory and blows cold, however, the compressor rattles a little from age si it should be replaced . A rebuilt one is around $160.00 ENGINE COMPARTMENT ORIGINALITY AND APPEARANCE I suggest you look closely at the engine compartment photo and then compare it to any vintage Mustang for sale on Ebay . You will find that there is only one or two cars with engine compartments that are slightly nicer but they are on very expensive cars . Below is the title of a car on Ebay that you can do a search for to see the ad . It is claimed to be fully restored with a price of $45,000.00 and the engine compartment has the shock bolts and shock tower cap nuts painted over, painted over fender apron bolts, painted over windshield squirters, standard hardware store hose clamps, standard battery without Autolite top, wrong vacuum advance, wrong vacuum advance hose, wrong air cleaner snorkel and so on. 1956 Ford Mustang GT Convertible 4-Speed Fully Restored! Rare! The engine compartment on this $52,000.00 coupe is correct. 1965 Ford Mustang K-Code Hardtop Our engine compartment is completely stock and still has the original vacuum advance unit and metal vacuum line for the vacuum advance, original yellow top coil, original rubber battery apron insulator to keep battery post from grounding on the apron, original voltage regulator for air conditioned cars, original 6 blade fan for air conditioned cars, original type fan clutch which has no play in it and it works like new, original radiator dated 4-66, original a/c clutch magnetic switch with Ford part number, original carburetor with original brass tag, original engine with original aluminum tag, new Concours reproduction windshield washer bag, new Concourse radiator hoses with correct FoMoco stamp and correct hose clamps, new Concours Whittek hose clamps . Even small things like the spark plug wire retainers which are typically missing are there and the starter solenoid is dark red bakelite like the originals were, the hood hinges and springs are the correct phosphate color, the heater blower motor nuts are original and still have the dark gold plating on them, the blower motor has the correct appearing yellow masking tape wrapped on it to seal the two halves of the motor from moisture, correct color spark plug wires with the correct orange colored boots, Autolite battery top, original wiring in mint condition with virtually no fading of the colors and original bolts etc. The Concours radiator hoses and clamps will be installed before the auction expires. ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE It is very important to determine if any car you buy runs hotter than it should, because getting one to cool properly can easily cost $600.00 or more . This car has had the water pump replaced . One easy way to tell if a cars cooling system is good is to simply let it idle for around 10 minutes . If it has air conditioning, turn that on also . If it isn't hurling water out like Old Faithful Geyser by then, it is probably fine . This engine has NEVER run hot. INTERIOR The interior is original and very nice looking . There are no tears in the seats or cracks in the dash but the headliner has a small tear that has been repaired . I have new door panels that go with the car but have not installed them because it takes away from some of its originality . If you buy the car and want them installed I will gladly do that for you. ELECTRICAL The electrical systems on these cars are very simple and any problems are easy to fix, however, everything on this particular car works including all the gauges, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, emergency flasher, interior lights, interior light dimmer and turn signals . Even the the turn signal canceler works and this part is often broken and costs around $200.00 to repair . It has a good battery and the alternator puts out over 14 volts with a load on it. BODY Every panel on this car is original with the factory date codes and spot welds clearly visible . It is very straight for a car of this age . If you look under the car you can see that the rockers and floors are laser straight and there is no heavy undercoating on the floors that could hide any rust. RUST AND NEW PAINT If someone is selling a car that has just been painted, you can be 99.999% certain that the paint will fall off after you wash it a few times and the rust it is hiding will comeback within a month or so, therefore, buyers should beware of newly painted cars . If someone tells you their 50 year old Mustang does not have any rust, they typically have no idea what they are talking about or are blind or never looked, or it has been "repaired" and hidden with bondo, or they are simply lying or they have a miracle car (which is the least likely) . The common places for rust on these cars even in California and Arizona where there is no snow is in the lower front corners of the doors where the outside rusts first, and just in front or behind the rear wheel at the bottom of the panels, and the floor pans . Minor rust from rainwater in any of these areas can be easily and inexpensively fixed . Rust from salted roads can cost a LOT to fix . This car has a small spot around 3" in diameter where there are some bubbles in the lower rear section of the right front fender where dirt gets thrown up from the tires which then holds water when the car is washed or driven through a puddle etc . There is a 1/16" bubble on the left rear wheel well and maybe one other tiny one. That's about it, big deal. PAINT It was repainted only once on the outside several years ago . There are a few chips and scratches but no lifting or peeling and it still looks very nice an original type car . The paint in the trunk and under the hood is original and in xlnt condition for a car of this age. EXTERIOR CHROME The vent window chrome which is usually dull and bubbled on these cars looks nearly new and is in show condition . The bumpers and tail light bezels were replaced and look like new . There are no bubbles in the lower side roof molding and the quarter panel moldings in front of the rear wheels are very nice. VINYL TOP It is in like new condition and looks like it is original with the factory type rivets in the drip rails and factory type seam sealer which is also in like new condition. DOOR TAG INFORMATION BODY ......... 65C COLOR ........... 8 INTERIOR .... 36 DATE .......... 10E DSO .............. 72 TRANS ........... 6 AXLE ............. 6 ADDITIONAL PARTS My friend is a dealer for Scott Drake Products which is one of the biggest aftermarket parts suppliers for vintage Mustangs and they make very high quality parts . Some of them are from the original Ford tooling and many of them are licensed by Ford . I will sell you any parts that Scott Drake makes for 15% to 20% under suggested retail . This is FAR less than you can buy them from any vendor or from Ebay, and if you plan to do some cosmetic restoration on this car or any other Mustang you might have, this will save you a lot of money. VEHICLE LOCATION We are located in the beautiful city of Murrieta which is near Lake Elsinore . The zip code is 92595 if you want to find it on Google Maps etc. VEHICLE INSPECTION I encourage you to see the car in person and drive it so you can be certain that you like it . I also suggest that you bring any Mustang or other automotive expert you have along with you if you don't know much about cars . I also have a floor jack so you can jack it up and crawl underneath if you want . I am available to show it pretty much anytime. Come out early and bring the kids, bring the dog and the cat . We live in a beautiful area with many small orange groves and there is a forest and hiking trails right at the end of our street . You could also head over to Lake Elsinore afterwards which is only 6 miles away and rent a boat (no special license required) . We are also only 5 miles from a large outdoor dirt track where they often hold events on weekends so you could check that out if you like racing. THANKS FOR LOOKING AT OUR AD
