This big, beautiful 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 XL is in great condition overall. The engine runs smooth and quiet, and the burbling exhaust sounds fantastic. The transmission shifts smooth and solid, predictable and consistent, waiting longer under aggressive acceleration, or shifting sooner if not. The car drives nice, floating down the road, and stops with some left-leg assist. The exterior is rough, it’s true. It had a fresh Maaco paint job in 2004 that started to come off in the wash in 2006. On the driver’s quarter, near the seam with the taillight housing, there’s evidence of bondo, and a ding in the housing. The front bumper has a crown, and the valence behind the bumper has two wrinkles. On the other hand, the body is straight as an arrow, with no crashes or crushes or dents. There’s the tiniest bit of rust on the lowest parts of the passenger side rear quarter, and a bit on the inside of the trunk. Pictures of the floor pans show they’re immaculate and rust-free – they’re original to the car. All the original trim is still attached and in good condition. The interior is the real gem in this car. It’s in surprisingly great condition considering how the car looks on the outside. Black seats with no evidence of wear, black carpet in great condition (floor mats were used for many years), and a flawless black dash. The black headliner has a single inch-long cut near the middle, and some cracks in the far rear passenger corner. The odometer shows 04124 miles. Maybe put a 1 in front of that? The car is located outside Memphis, TN. Get in and drive this car as is, no changes necessary. Or leave the exterior as is and drop in a suped-up 390. (You might want to also add front power disc brakes, in that case.) Or go for a complete restoration from an already very good start. This car is sure to get some looks, wows, thumbs-up, and conversations at the gas station no matter what.
