I went to the DMV to discuss the vehicle to make sure i had everything locked down. Unfortunately i will not be able to close on this non binding bid for two reasons: 1) the DMV could not assure me that the car can be registered and operated legally in california due to california's more stringent emissions standards and the age of the vehicle, which was not marked to be distributed in california when produced. 2) I have two young children that require child seats today and booster seats down the road. This model does not include a backseat tether for the carseat (now a legal requirement in CA) and, because it has no shoulder straps for the back bench, will not allow for a legal ]and safe booster seat install. After discussing with a Ford dealer this morning, they said they and other dealers would not retrofit this because of potential liability. I am so disappointed and am so sorry i have to cancel.
