THE OVERVIEW Offered for an appreciating new owner is this classic 1998 Mercedes Benz 500SL roadster! Finished in gloss black over black leather interior and black canvas top, this SL has been driven just over 125,000 miles since new, It sports a great running 5.0 liter V8 engine mated to the factory 4 speed automatic transmission. Stopping power is provided by four wheel disc brakes with anti-lock. Other amenities electric top, cold air conditioning, 18" chrome alloy wheels with excellent tires, rear roll bar, electric windows and telescoping steering wheel and more. THE BODY AND TRIM The exterior of this SL is in good 99.9% rust-free condition overall. I would call this car a presentable "ten-footer" overall deep lustrous shine from the gloss black paint. Upon closer inspection, the body shows various, nicks, faded sports, light scratches and scrapes and touched up spots along with some very light curb rash on one or more of the alloy wheels and other miscellaneous light cosmetic blemishes. While it recently was replaced new, he soft top is currently not raising due to a mechanical jam. The two side view mirrors are loose. THE INTERIOR As I hope is articulated in the photos here, the interior of this car is in fairly good condition overall. The leather upholstery is newer, the a/c blows cold, all of the gauges, lights and blinkers work as do the electric windows. The stereo needs a code, one of the window switches has fallen into the console but still functions, the horn sounds weak, there is some general wear and tear on some of the interior trim bits. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE This 1998 500SL starts well with strong running engine with great acceleration, good shifting transmission and solid braking and steering. The suspension components are a bit worn producing a bit of shimmy over 65 miles per hour. This is a still fun, fast and solid top down cruiser. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE 1.
