Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an ORIGINAL 1969 Ford Torino GT Sportsroof (fastback) optioned with an Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, and Factory Air Conditioning. This car while needing a full restoration is a Solid Southern Car and is an extremely worthy candidate with the GT package and it's desirable color combination!! This is an ORIGINAL F-code 1969 Ford Torino GT that spent it's early life in the Memphis, Tennessee area hailing from the City of Marianna, Arkansas originally. This car stayed in the south and at some point found it's way to the Atlanta, Ga Area. This car was a driver for a number of years before being put away and a restoration started on it. The Torino ended up in the hands of a well intentioned enthusiast who ended up with 3 Torino's and he quickly found out he did not have the time to devote to restoring all 3. After getting started on the restoration the reality of things set in; it was decided that it would be best to sell off the Torino's. This is the last of the 3 cars and it is just waiting for the next Torino enthusiast to come along and finish restoring this car to its former glory!! This car was a Basic Order at Webster Ford Co. in Marianna, AR. and ordered in the Memphis 63 DSO in the visually stunning and very desirable F-code Gulfstream Aqua Hue with a Black C- Stripe and a matching Black Vinyl Bench Seat Interior. This GT was further spec'd out with the Standard F-code 302-2V, C4 Automatic Transmission, and a 2.79 geared conventional rear end! This '69 Torino GT per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows: 302-2V V-8 Engine C4 Automatic Transmission2.79 geared Conventional RearGulfstream Aqua Metallic Exterior PaintBlack Vinyl Bench Seat InteriorE70-14 Wide Oval Belted White Sidewall TiresPower SteeringAir ConditioningAM RadioRemote Mirror This car is a project car and has been sitting for a number of years. Somewhere along the way the Torino powerplant was upgraded to a more powerful 351W engine. The previous owner attempted to get the car running and did not have much luck with it so he ended up just parking it behind his house as a 'someday' project. I pulled the car out of his yard and with a little work was able to get the car running with some fresh fuel in an auxiliary tank. The engine actually runs good and I have a video of it running in the car that I will post a link to below. The engine does oil foul the plug in #1 cylinder, so it probably would not hurt to freshen the engine at some point. The Transmission does drop into gear but I have not driven it any distance as the brakes are not functional at this time. This is not a driver by any means, but it is a solid project car that does run. It will need some more work to make it a driver, but could be ready with a weekends worth of work. LINK to video of Torino Running:https://youtu.be/7FmGCXvMcdE The car been repainted over the original Gulfstream Aqua paint and color changed to this shade of Metallic Blue. Definitely not a high end repaint and it is tired now with cracks and chips all around. At some point the passenger 1/4 was hit and some back woods body guy decided just to throw mud at it rather than hammer and dollying out the dent. We ground out the bondo to find a very solid panel underneath that while it will need some massaging to get it back into shape I do not believe it warrants replacement. Driver 1/4 is decent but does have some small amounts of rust coming up, but very easy fix for a good body guy. Needs the battery apron patched and a new battery tray. Car has very minor rust (see pics) and has had some filler used here and there used to straighten the body back in the day. It has its share of bumps and bruises but is not a terrible car to work with. With that said a complete cosmetic resto would be in order. Car really needs to be stripped, straightened, and repainted back to it's original Gulfstream Aqua with Black GT C-stripe color combination again!! The Body on the Torino while nowhere near perfect, nor paint ready is a reasonably good platform from which to start with. The Hood, Fenders, Doors, and 1/4's while needing some attention are all workable pieces. The Floors have been done and the Frame Rails, Rockers, etc. are solid on this car. Undoubtedly you will need some parts and pieces for this car as you restore it, but it is a pretty much complete car that is well optioned and a super solid platform to start with!! The Black Bench Seat Interior is original and for the most part is all there; but needing restoration. While it does show the years of wear and tear; most all of the pieces seem to be serviceable/restorable pieces. The car was originally equipped with 14 inch GT wheels which I have for it, it is pictured with an original set of Ford 15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels; that are for photographic purposes only and NOT included with this auction. This car will be delivered with the original 14 inch GT wheels back on it. Please be realistic in your expectations of this car as a nearly 50 year old project car that has been around the block and knocked around a bit needing complete restoration to include body work, mechanical work, and cosmetic reconditioning. Overall this is a very decent original 1969 Torino GT that is a solid restoration candidate. This is a running restoration project. There are lots of picked over, rusted out carcasses out there; but decent do-able cars such as this that are not rusted to death do not come along very often. This car is registered and insured in my name and is ready for transfer. If you have been looking for a Solid Torino GT to restore then don't hesitate on this one; as is it may be some time before another suitable running resto project such as this comes along again! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the Torino GT's described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1969 Ford Torino GT is a nearly 50 year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1969 Torino GT project car accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully to make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
