Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This is a 1965 Dodge Power Wagon Town Wagon 4x4 with power steering, a 396 Big Block Chevy powerplant and great patina. Previous owner owned the truck since 1973 until I purchased several months ago. The only reason I am selling this is that I just purchased two matching Chevrolet 4x4 Napco conversions, one pickup and one Suburban. The previous owner took great pride in “Butch” and had many stories to tell when I picked it up from him in Colorado. This truck is in running driving, stopping condition. It was used a weekend ago in a Fourth of July Parade - it sure was nice having power steering. It will need a carb tuneup and some misc lighting wiring done but she starts up on first crank. The headlights and heater work but the tail lamps do not. The parking brake and factory Braden winch are operational. It’s been maintained over the years and had recent maintenance, a brake job was done last summer, fuel tank boiled out, new fuel pump, diffs serviced etc…. Previous owner was going to leave it at his place in mountains so everything got a once over. According to the owner, in approximately 1977, a GM 396 big block was installed in the old truck. The old original 318 V8 locked up. The owner replaced the 318 with a 375 horsepower 396 out of a 65 Chevrolet Chevelle. The LU2 winch is still in working form and runs off the transfer case. The fuel tank is not original but it’s in good condition and likely holds 40-50 gallons, it was recently boiled out and resealed. The previous owner installed the larger tank since he made the drive to Alaska from Colorado, which he did. As you can see, the bumpers are not original but fit the truck well. They are bolted on, not welded so easily removed. The front bumper houses the original LU2 PTO winch. The lockable rear bumper has 3 separate openings and has plenty of room for tools, chains, fluids, etc… Warn locking hubs for the front axle, working 4x4, working parking brake. It has a set of 9.00x16 (35”) Power King Super Traction with tons of tread. There is a worn spare tire and matching rim. I believe there is a set of tire chains in the rear bumper as well. If you know these town wagons, the truck has the typical Town Wagon rust in the fenders as expected but the frame is absolutely solid. From the bottom of the cab, the steel floor appears to have nothing notable besides surface. No guarantee but there are no soft spots when feeling from the top. There is carpet in the front half and carpet covered plywood covers the rear area. Overall, the interior and dash are in pretty good condition, please see photos. The front doors shut straight. The original glovebox has a locking feature. The dash is in very good condition, the knobs, gauges are all present. Some of the gauges work, headlights, the heater, windshield wipers all work. There is an additional floor heater in the rear area, not sure how that works exactly. The windows roll up easily, the vent windows twist open just fine – a nice thing for moving air. All glass is in good usable condition but the much of the weather-stripping is shrinking after 50 years and will need to be replaced eventually. The seats are not original but very comfortable and have no holes – I believe he said they are out of a T-bird. Unlike most out there, this is a running, driving, stopping truck that’s in operational condition but not 100%. It’ s over 50 years old, it’s not mint, and it will have it’s issues. That said, it appears to has original paint, great patina, and it was well taken care of by the original owner. It’s a big cool old truck, as the previous owner said, “it’s a great hunting rig”. I’m not looking to get rich, I just know it’s not number one on my priority list and rather it goes to someone that will be it’s next long term caretaker. I am listing this truck for less than I purchased it for in hopes it finds a good home. I am sure I left stuff out, please ask questions. Truck is for sale locally and auction may end at any time. FYI -I was told the 396 is worth a bunch of cash by itself but I am not an expert on old motors. I have tried to represent this 50 year old truck accurately. Truck can be made available to be viewed before the end of the auction. I can store the truck for a reasonable amount of time – this can be discussed prior to purchase. I can likely find a reasonable shipper if transport is needed, I have done business with this party for over a decade. Payment - $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours. The remaining amount is due within three days after the auction via proper wire transfer or proper certified funds, or cash. Sorry.He just called and said after he moved the truck last night the driver's door is sticking - not sure whats up, could be simply locked in place or something else.The PS looks original mopar but not 100%, I have gotten conflicting opinions on with original, steering wheel is not. This is a running driving stopping truck but it's 50+ year old "hunting truck". It has issues, it has rust, most if not all of them do - please understand if you are looking for a restored truck, please look elsewhere.
