Vehicle Detail
Listed is my 1971 Honda CB500 Four K0. Without question, a stunning and collectible quality example. It was bought and owned in the Philadelphia area and sold after its original owner of 42 years was facing health issues. I purchased this pristine CB from his neighbor friend (approximate 18 months ago) who lightly refurbished it and added a couple of tasteful and easily reversible upgrades to give it a subtle café look. This includes flatter handlebars, BMW bar end blinkers SS Brake lines, MSC heat treated upswept 4-2 pipes which look and sound great (not loud), and a NOS '69 CB750 sandcast mirror. The original turnsignals, mirror, handlebars, brake hoses and chain guard included. The original pipes were discarded. Polished front brake caliper, reservoir, case covers, kickstarter, fork tubes, hubs. Carburetors professionally given ultrasonic clean and chrome powder coated as well as properly jetted and synched. New Kenda Challenger series tires front and rear. New factory Honda clutch and throttle cables, petcock assembly, hardware, gaskets, and race brake pads. Cosmetically in remarkable condition for original paint K0 CB. One year only Starlight Gold and Black - arguably the best looking color combo offered on the early CB's. Some fading on top of tank as well as some light scratches/chips as depicted in the closeup picture. The small imperfections add to the authenticity of the originality of this well preserved 1st year CB500 Four. As seen in the pics, the seat, seat pan, frame, lenses, gauges, rims, hubs, sidecovers, inside of tank (not coated, not rusted), fenders, engine, etc are super clean and present vey well even to the most discerning eye. Mechanically this CB runs very strong. Starts right up cold or warm with either starter button or old school kick and pulls right off throttle like a 750. Due to its lighter weight compared to the 750, it's performance is closely matched and outperforms when the road becomes twisty. Clutch action is spot on as is the gearbox - solid shifts up and down. Throttle response is snappy with no hesitation and this motor likes to rev. No exhaust smoke or oil/fluid leaks. Brakes are also quite good considering the period - firm with no fade. Bike tracks straight and feels light, quick and nimble. All lights work as they should and a fresh battery and spark plug set recently installed - stays on a trickle charger when stored. Complete, original tool kit, owners manual, warranty book and dealer brochure included. Clear PA Title in my name and if winning bidder is a PA resident, the '71 tag is transferrable. The bike is also for sale locally and thus seller reserves right to end the auction early. If seeking a well preserved, sorted and ready to ride a first year 500 four, that stands apart from the crowd at bike night, it would be difficult to find a better example than this one.
