The Good, The Bad and The Ugly The Good: 1. 15" steel rims specially made for the Vanagon by Go-Westy, great upgrade from the original 12" and they work with the old chrome caps.2. Michelin Hyrdroedge 215/65R/15 tires with only 6500 miles on them.3.Clifford Alarm system, yes a Westy with an alarm. We bought it to keep the bears away from our food more then to keep out people. Overall, other then the engine going out, I had no problems with the van. 1rst and Reverse are a little tricky to get into. Glass is good. The previous owner put a new paint job on it and looks good. The pop up works great. The canvas is in good shape just some minor pin holes to be fixed. The stove works great. I could never get the pilot light on the fridge to work. Interior is decent for 34 yrs old. The entire engine compartment was sanded to bare metal, painted with 4 coats of POR-15 and covered with sound dampening insulation. The Bad: 1. The engine needs to be replaced or rebuilt. As I mentioned before I am including a 1.6 that is a good candidate for a rebuild. My local VW guru gave it to me it was out of a rabbit. The head is off it. If you don't want it no prob, I will take it to the metal recyclers.2. Horn does not work3. All door lock but the front doors will not lock by pushing down on the inside mechanism, you need to use the key.4. No AC5. The fridge does not work6. I lost the face for the CD player, I am still looking though.7. Odometer never worked, I have no idea how many miles are on it. The Ugly: 1. The previous owner put a new paint job on it and did a good job in my opinion. There is surface rust here and there especially at the seams which is par for the course with Vanagons. Small scratches, dings but no major dents.2. The bottom of the rear hatch has a good amount of rust on it.3. The bolts that hold up the rear right bumper were lost somewhere in Saskatchewan, I used bungee cords to hold it up. looks horrible. 4. Only one endcap on the bumpers remain 5. Oil stain on front drivers seat, stain on rear bench.6. Some of the interior roof liner is coming apart.7. Some surface rust above rear tires.8. The previous owner cut out larger holes where the rear speakers were to accommodate his speakers. I put 3.5" speakers in the holes and duct tape the covers on them. it looks bad.9. The speakers in the front doors are taken out. I have the covers that are supposed to go there. As I mentioned before I will attempt to put up a Utube video of the van inside and out ASAP. It needs a new or rebuilt engine. I have no means to transport it so you would need at least a tow dolly to bring it home. Most likely a car trailer. Also another frequent question is about the reserve, well there is no reserve. The final price is the final price. A couple things I did not add with the description above that I would like to now: 1. All three RV hookups on the driver side need to be replaced.2. The head was taken off the engine to show you guys the damage, so there is a little bit of oil leaking on the ground.3. One of the tabs that you twist to lock the engine cover in place is broken off.
