I wanted this car bad. It sat in the basement garage of my wifes building, seemingly abandoned. I couldn't find the owner and the manager had no interest in speaking with me about it. The tires had gone flat and a thick coat of dust coated the bright red paint. To my surprise it turned up at a local scrappers lot, donated to him. He did the car no favors and I wrestled the vehicle from his grasp right around the first of the month. The car has a new radiator and runs very well. It has good power thru the gears and no weird clunks or groans or ticks and clicks. It is still getting used to being out on the road and getting the dust knocked off. There is still some cleaning to do. The paint has some blemishes from the plum tree at the scrappers lot. Maybe some more aggressive polish could do it justice. The interior is nice and the gauges all seem to be working. I took it on up to 70 mph and there is a little shake in the wheel, probably from the 20 year old tires. The car has some very small dings that you have to search for. The rear bumper has some cracks in the finish. The sides are very shiny, the tops will need more polish. The windows go up & down easily. Everything on the car operates with a nice light touch. It is a very original Toyota that you can start driving every day right now. You need to firmly depress the clutch to get it started. There is a safety button under the pedal. I have enjoyed getting to know Mister 2 as we call him. I have had 300 cars and rarely get an original survivor type vehicle like this. If you are looking for a vehicle that is unmolested and stock, look no further, harris.
