Vehicle Detail

CB750 K0 CB750-1021594 Manufacture date: 1/70 (early 1970)Engine# CB750E-1021670 All the books magazine articles and commentary over the years say it all....Iconic, Game changer, etc., this bike did more for motorcycling at large than any other bike in history. Just in case you don't know why the early ones are more sought after though, after the original release the "K0" models had a hotter cam and different ignition timing not to mention other changes in the subsequent years. These bikes are hotrods compared to the later models and until the introduction of the SUPERSPORT in 1975, the bikes were softened because they would break drivechains and ruin cases when it would wrap around the countershaft sprocket. I'm sure the above statement will fuel a debate but I was the youngest (at the time) to attend the Midwest Honda Training Center (spring of 1970 just following their win at Daytona) when it was held in Bob Hansens Race Shop in Racine Wisconsin before they moved it to Milwaukee a couple years later. I was trained by the man that tuned the Daytona Winning Bike; Bob Jameson...so you can argue if you must, but it will mean absolutely nothing... I've owned dozens of these over the years and rebuilt, rehabbed, and sold many over the years and I had planned on doing the same with this until fate dealt me a crappy hand this last year with my health. I will tell you all I know about the bike if you ask questions but here is basically what I remember after a good walk around recently. It was a well running bike when I purchased it from the second owner a couple years ago. The fuel was drained and readied for storage before I put it up so I have no reason to believe you could install a new battery and start it up.The original square gold airbox was warped from engine heat (a common malody) and a K1 airbox was mounted in replacement. With none available back then, I applaud the changeout rather than merely removal...I purchased an airbox and unpainted side covers from a company in Japan making them from the original tooling. They were quite expensive but...THOSE WILL BE INCLUDED...(not shown) The original Ducktail seat vinyl is in very good condition but the red foam is collapsed as you can see but a very cheap and easy fix. The mainstand is bent on one leg. I have an early model replacement that IS INCLUDED with the sale. The pipes are the original HM300 and are intact with no rust holes (drain holes are all there and intact flaring downward as they should) however it appears there is a small weld (or just missing chrome on the top of the weld) on the adjoining seam on #4 where the header meets the muffler. I ascertain it is not patching rust but a very small vibration crack repair done by an expert -OR- where the chrome let go from on top of the weld because there is no discoloration around it...There is a tiny ding on the top of the #4 reverse cone that a dime would cover and another on the inboard side of the passenger footpeg on #1. Headers have normal tarnish heat rash on chrome and they are all about equal and fairly presentable if soda blasted and buffed (been there). there is a small abrasion on the right lower header. The gas cap has a locking latch but I have an original tab type that will complete all the bits to make it original, once again INCLUDED RARE and EXPENSIVE. The Rims are in nearly perfect shape and are NOT rusted, bent ore scraped from shoehorning on tires. The original paint on the frame looks really good for age as if it was stored indoors as the speedo and tach are not faded and the chrome is excellent on fenders and original bolts, Black kill button, silver unfinned caliper, low bars. The bike is offered as is, which for all practical purposes is very nice.Single cut rear on front fender, original perfect condition tail light and perfect chrome on the original "inboard" style signal lights. I think that's about it.TRUST ME, THE BIKE IS WORTH MORE THAN MY RESERVE IN PARTS...I JUST HATE TO DO IT TO A NUMBERS MATCHING BIKE!I've sold dozens of these over the years and know this will be a great price and fantastic investment for the winner of the auction...Please call with questions 2394043600. Ill try to answer as soon as I can. Dave
