I purchased this "85% restored" 1975 Triumph Spitfire 1500 three years ago. It had absolutely no rust anywhere and didn't think it would take much to get it into driveable condition. As I got into it, I discovered that this car was dangerous. For example, of the 12 required bolts securing the body to the chassis, only 4 were installed and then only two had nuts! As a result I took the car down to it's last nut and bolt and removed the body. I had the frame and many suspension parts powder coated. I also replaced the rear differential with an overhauled diff, replaced the windshield, installed an electric radiator fan, and replaced hundreds of other parts too numerous to list. I have every receipt of every expenditure....which is kinda depressing!! The engine runs well. The wiring harness is back in but not hooked up to all components. Both exterior and interior have been primed and painted but the exterior still needs more paint. I am sure a few more components are still needed, for example, rear bumper, window mechanisms and interior and seats upholstery. All parts are easily available. I just do not have the time to spend on it as we recently opened a new business. These are fun little sports cars and my loss is your gain.
