1971 Ford Torino GT Fastback We purchased this car from a friend in 2006. Unfortunately, we have not used and enjoyed the car like we thought we would. Nor do we think we will in the future. As a result, we have decided to sell it and let someone who will use it own it. He had owned the car since 1991 and approximately 103,000 miles and kept detailed records since that time. Here are some highlights of the mechanical work done: 184,583 All new tune up parts, new radiator, lower radiator hose 184,186 Wheel alignment 178,080 New master cylinder 177,651 All new brakes and bearings, new rotors, turned drums 177,645 New carburetor 176,957 New starter 158968 New mufflers 158,794 New engine, transmission, U-Joints, heater core. Engine built to Cobra Jet specs and balanced 133,381 New posi-traction axle He is a Ford enthusiast and added lots of options to the car during his ownership. 351C 4BBL engine, C6 transmission with shift kit, posi-traction, bucket seats & console, tilt steering column, ribbon tachometer, Magnum 500 wheels. He also did the interior restoration work. When we purchased the car, we sent it out to be painted. The body was partly disassembled so there would be no tape marks, the back window was removed and polished, all the trim was polished, all rubber parts were replaced. It was then professionally reassembled. The car is a nice driver quality car. It still needs tinkering with though. Here are some items we know need to be done: The shifter needs adjustment. Park is park, but when the car is in drive it shows neutral on the shifter.The front turn signals were not returned with the car after painting. We were able to recover the parts but they need to be installedThe passenger kick panel was not returned with the car after painting and was not recoveredThe power steering pump works but makes a whining noiseWe replaced the rear package panel and have not reinstalled the radio speakers. We can include the old panel that has speakers and rear window defogger unit if desired. The tires are old and have some cracking between the treadsThe fuel is old and probably should be replaced In 10 years of ownership, we have put less than 100 miles on the car. I'm sure you will find other things that need doing on the car and it should be thoroughly checked out before driving it very far. Please bid accordingly. We have just put in a new battery. Payment in full within 3 days of auction end via wire transfer, bank check or cash. Funds have to clear our bank before release of car or title. Car needs to be removed within 2 weeks of the end of the auction. We will be happy deliver the car via trailer if you are local to us (within 200 miles) or work with your shipper. Please only bid if you have the funds and will complete the transaction. We want the car to go to someone who will enjoy the car, please allow that to happen.Inspections are welcome during the bidding period. Inspections will not be permitted after the bidding period. Due to the age of the car, condition of the tires and lack of recent use, test drives will not be permitted. We will be happy to start and warm up the car, demonstrate that it goes, steers, stops, etc., but will not take it on the road. We can put it up on the lift so the underside can be inspected thoroughly. By bidding on this car, you agree that you are completely satisfied with the condition of the car and will have no recourse if the condition is found to be unsatisfactory after the purchase.
