Vehicle Detail
Too many projects and too few parking spaces so the F100 has to go! This 1973 Ford F100 Custom has a desirable combination of options:302 CI small block V8 with a 2-barrel carburetorC4 automatic transmissionRear wheel driveStandard cab, Short bed (6.5 foot bed)Power steeringWorking factory air conditioning and heatDual exhaust2.75 rear axle (Ford 9") - not original ratio to the truck, it originally came with a shorter gearIt has an older decent quality repaint that is showing its age, but still looks great. There are a few spots of corrosion showing here and there and in the typical horizontal line on the tailgate. They haven't changed since 2 years ago. I was planning to touch these up, but did not want to misrepresent the truck in any way so I will leave that to the new owner. Mileage is unknown due to the 5 digit odometer and incorrect speedometer gear in the transmission when I bought it. I suspect it is between 100k and 200k. Drives down the road nice and straight, as good as any Twin-I-Beam Ford I've ever driven. Due to the gearing, it will cruise down the highway at 70 mph comfortably (aside from the wind noise). It's not a show truck, but it presents well. Not so perfect you can't use it as a truck, but a good combination of options in very good condition that would be a great base for a restoration or drive and enjoy as is. I've done a lot of work to make this truck dependable - I daily drove this truck from the end of September until the end of December and had no major issues. It does leak a bit from the engine, transmission, and rear axle, but everything works great. This truck has always been in the south from what I can tell - originally sold out of Atlanta, I bought it from Rome, GA. Have an old title that puts in GA in the 90's. Minimal corrosion - tiny hole under battery, the now-repaired floor rot, and the line on the tailgate. Another forgot to mention - I have the full 1973 Ford truck shop manual, all volumes, covers all 1973 Ford trucks (including their big rigs). Will include if truck is sold during this auction. The fuel gauge does not work and I have pinpointed it to the gauge itself. I've seen replacements on eBay for around $20, but haven't replaced yet as I've been calculating fuel left from the odometer.
