Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this awesome, one of a kind Pontiac. It is a very customized 1946. You almost wouldn't know what you were looking at if you didn't know your Pontiacs and your 1940s automobiles. The wheelbase has been shortened, the roof removed, and almost every panel modified to make it look 'right'. Whomever made this little hot rod certainly did have an eye for design. It almost looks like a 50s Jaguar or Jowette Jupiter. To the best of my knowledge, this was customized sometime in the mid 1950s by a gentleman that never got around to finishing it. It was saved from the scrapper and squirreled away in a Kansas Flint Hills pasture. That is where I found it and brought it home. You can see some of the pictures from it's pasture days and on the way home below. It now has four roller tires and tubes on it to be loaded/unloaded easily. It rolls remarkably well. What you see is what you get. I do have the missing bumperette and what appears to be perhaps a DeSoto front bumper in the car. Two of the wheels you see on the car are incorrect, but the two correct ones are in the car as well. There has been accommodation for a push button door opening system. The original dash though rough, is there. The car appears to have been green originally, and perhaps black and/or red later down the line. The body ID tag is not present nor is the hood. It would appear a stock 1946 hood would require significant modification and a person might be best off making one from scratch instead. There is also no engine or transmission in the car. The original axles are present. It has rust, worst in the floors (it is a convertible that has been outside) and in the driver's door. She sure does turn heads and almost nobody knows what she is. This would make a great custom project for somebody and you could go a lot of different directions with the drivetrain. You could enjoy the patina as a rat rod, make a sleeper out of her, or just go crazy. I have described the car to the best of my knowledge and will answer any questions as best I can. The car is located in rural Haddam Kansas. I would be happy to help load and can accept cash at pickup, of course. Sold on bill of sale only, which should be no problem since the car is pre-1950. If you as the buyer arrange all shipping, I will work with you. I do require a deposit. I highly prefer cash at pickup from the seller themself. I will help load.On Feb-05-16 at 13:55:31 PST, seller added the following information: ADDED NOTE: Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to pull if it sells. Thanks
