Vehicle Detail
This original flat head 4 cylinder 1949 Willys Jeepster runs, drives, and has a good drivetrain, but is not a driver. It needs a full restoration. The engine runs well with no knocking or obvious faults. The column shifter works like it should and the transmission shifts and operates well. This Jeepster has the optional overdrive, but the cable is frozen. There has been numerous mechanical items addressed in the last year. My intention was to get it running and operable prior to tearing it apart for a restoration. I am only selling it as I have too many projects and way too little time. Both the front suspension (including new king pins!) and rear axle has been rebuilt. The driveshaft (including Detroit style joints and boots) and the brakes (including all new drums) are all rebuilt. There are various new parts, which have been installed so this can be started and driven, and any work completed has been done properly. The radiator has been rodded out, new water pump, hoses (oil and water, brake), plugs, distributer, wires, rebuilt carb, cleaned out gas tank and fuel system, with NOS Carter glass bowl filter, new steering wheel, windshield rubber replaced, etc..... The original wiring is shot, and is currently re-wired to start, charge the battery, and have brake lights. However, a new OE style harness is included with the Jeepster. This has no body rust or evidence of rust repair and the frame is not rotted. The inner and outer rocker panels are solid and not rusted through. There is some rust that has penetrated through the floor pans, as shown in the pics, however they are there and mostly solid, unlike most unrestored jeepsters. The floor supports are solid and not rusted out either! The seat frames are all good, and the springs are repairable/restorable. This is a beautiful candidate for a concourse restoration and is one of few that hasn't rusted away or been chopped up and made into a hot rod. These Jeepsters were only produced from 1948-1950, with leftover inventory sold as 1951s. There were only 19,000 Willys Jeepsters ever produced and these are very hard to come by. These bring around $40,000 when restored correctly. The beauty of the Jeepster is that Willys used many jeep and Wagon/Pickup parts, so these things are easy to restore if you find a good candidate. This is a great candidate for a concourse (as new) restoration and is a very complete vehicle. Please note: All convertible top frame components are there, including the side curtain frames which are not pictured, but will come with the vehicle. This Jeepster has never been wrecked (has a few minor dings dents) and has a clear Arizona title and original factory vin plate. It is currently registered and local bidders may contact me via ebay to view and drive the vehicle prior to bidding.
