Vehicle Detail

It was 1979, the AMA Toyota Supercross Series kicked off January 18 in Oakland, California, The Dukes Of Hazzard had its debut on CBS, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was born, The Knacks “My Sharona” spent 6 weeks at number 1 on the pop charts, and Honda delivered the new CR 250 R Elsinore to the showroom, drenched in what may be the best shade of red ever mixed “Tahitian Red”. The Honda CR 250 R Elsinore was not just a bunch of red spray paint, hardly. The bike which was first introduced in 1978, and then refined for 1979 was fast, so fast that to this day it is still competitive with those 4 stroke thumpers, that are great machines, but just like the new muscle cars, they lack the personality the machines from back in the day truly possess. Christened “The Red Rocket” by the press, these bikes were great off the showroom floor, but very few people who actually raced these beasts left much stock by day two, or by first loop out! This particular bike, frame stamp: CR 250 R 2105746, engine stamp: CR 250 R 2105821, sat for years prior to my purchase. The photos speak for themselves, and this is a very clean example that is ready for the back of your truck on the way out to your favorite track, or maybe parked in the back of the man cave to be the envy of your bench racing buddies, or to secretly pretend you are Marty Smith back in the 1979 Supercross season launching off the peristyle jump at the L.A. Coliseum. Here is a list of new parts, vintage parts: Free Flo No Slop Breather Tube, Aluminum Works Gas Cap, Decals, Color Rite “Tahitian Red” paint, All Plastic, Seat Cover, Maxxis Cross Tires & Tubes, Pro Taper Bars, Renthal Dual Series Grips, Trackside Side-pull Throttle, OEM Style Brake & Clutch levers and perches, Takasago Gold Series 520 Chain, Fresh Lucas Gear Oil, Moose Racing Rollers, Head Gasket, Boyesen Pro Series Reeds, Twin Air Filter, Chain Protector, MSR Forged Aluminum Shifter, Progressive Suspension Rear Shocks, Vintage Fox Forx Air Caps, Vintage Answer Products Spark Arrestor, and a few more items I am surely forgetting. As you may or may not be able to see in the photos; small imperfections on the tank, some bolts that are not factory issue, small normal use scratches on rims, etc., but I am pretty sure by all standards, you will love this amazing example of a Honda CR 250 R Elsinore “Red Rocket”. Everything functions as it should. This 36 year old beauty is really, really, really nice, and you will be proud to show it, or go it! The best part of all of it: This is a true auction, you can acquire this crimson motocross time machine for the price of a latte. Let the gate drop on this auction, and may the best man or woman win! Braaap, braaap, braaaaaaap!
