Vehicle Detail

12-5-15 Took more pictures today after a hose down. I still have a lot of stuff in it from the move, so it's a bit cluttered. The best thing is to come and take a look yourself obviously. It's solid, but it is a daily driver utility vehicle. Up close she has wear and tear. __________ I am selling my well maintained, well used, turbo diesel wagon. I have owned this car for approximately 3 years. I have kept my maintenance records. It is from Pittsburgh and I recently drove it down here to New Orleans (in three days) with no issues (yes I periodically checked the fluids as you should). My mechanic in Pittsburgh knew these cars very well and did a good job getting her healthy and keeping her that way. You can buy that $1,000 example, but you'll quickly spend some money to get it in proper running order. Serious bidders only, no scams (I'm no dummy), ask questions before you bid or better yet, come and take a look yourself. I'll post more pictures this weekend. Here are the specs: 1983 300TD Wagon 287,000 miles (engine has less miles, but not positive the amount) Sunroof heater tape player new rugs third row fold up seat It has newer brakes newer Michellin tires new exhaust (partially) new belts recent oil change new speakers (4) There are plenty of blemishes and stuff that will need maintained overtime, but it is in good daily driver condition. In fact, I have driven it nearly every day for the past eight months with no breakdowns or issues. When I got it, it had a lot of issues, that I have worked through. The Bad: It still has cracks, rips, tears. It lets in some water in heavy rains. Some rust spots and the front driver's side wheel well where you jack the car has been damaged, but there is no structural rust besides that. A bad mechanic apparently jacked under that part instead of using the hole that fits the provided jack. The latch for the trunk on the inside is missing. It will want new injectors soon (this is mainly noticed when it's cold). Rear Brake light at passenger side has a small hole in it. This price is fair considering it's in good working order. I have several parts, but I would have to retrieve them from Pittsburgh (and I will). I have nearly all of the parts to get AC working. I never finished that. You could convert it to veggie pretty easily too. I have all of the seat head rests, but they are in Pittsburgh. I also have a trailer hitch, but it's not intended for heavy loads. I can retrieve that too. I would sell (not included) the roof rack attachments for hauling and a Mercedes emblem for the year. This car is a great utility vehicle and can fit a lot of stuff for hauling. Parts are easy to find as they made approx. 1.5 million 300D/300TD's. People really like the car and often pay it compliments. It's fun. If you'd like to discuss it more or have questions, feel free to contact me. Thanks, Kris On Dec-09-15 at 09:08:57 PST, seller added the following information: Hopefully you can see the 'note' I added. Ebay glitched out and I couldn't add to the details like I am here. I'm trying to remember everything on this car. I really would prefer you come see this car in person. I don't want someone bidding on it thinking it's not going to be loud and slow. These cars are basically loud and slow. They're also useful and reliable and stylish. Don't expect a mint condition car. Do expect a car that should be a reliable worker if you maintain it properly. Off the bat, you just need to watch the fluid levels and drive her. Ever since I had the new engine put in approximately 6,000 miles ago, I have been replacing belts due to some pulley rust. I think the fight is basically won, but that may come up again and then you'll have to buy $12 belts and use a flexy socket wrench. Keep in mind you should let this car warm up before you drive it. In a flat city like N.O. it's not that crucial, but she's old. You have to be understanding. The parts that I know I have in Pittsburgh are a spare arm rest (in better shape), all rear head rests, condensers, a radiator, several misc. parts. It does not burn oil, but when it's cold it makes a bit of grey smoke. After it's warm, there is no visible smoke at idle. Just looked in the file at my receipts and will recap: new muffler water pump thermostat primer pump seal ring neutral switch (used) new wiring harness by-pass hose ex. pipe (front of exhaust) (used) new center console wood (used) new wood shifter knob newer engine (my mechanic thought it was under 250k miles) new engine mounts and related Known issues: that have to be addressed to be safe or in working order - none It passed inspection in PA with no issues each time new injectors (eventually needed, especially in cold weather) stop water from coming in during solid rains (especially if you leave it outside uncovered) vacuum issue at trunk trunk inside latch rear driver's side window is sluggish to roll up watch the belts as the pulleys still wear them out with that used engine rear wiper stopped working recently (I assume it was the arm motor) On Dec-09-15 at 09:15:43 PST, seller added the following information: Note: It also has a new battery, new hoses, new reverse switch for reverse lamps. The driver's side reverse lamp is not installed, but I have the lens and housing. If paid in full I will coordinate shipping, but I prefer you pick it up locally. I would have to be paid in full with the money in my bank before I would allow it to be shipped. On Dec-09-15 at 17:42:05 PST, seller added the following information: 12-9-15 Okay. This is my last update. I have received no questions on here. This is it. Good luck bidding. I would have preferred you visited her and driven her. Good gas mileage. I recently got approximately 23 mpg on the highway and that was with weight, driving 70 ish. odometer works, as does speedometer (no tach)tank level indicator and thermostat work intermittently, but if you push the rheostat in, they give you an accurate read. Good news is, if the tank gets below a gallon a warning light comes on too. Original paint is old, but cleans up well with pre-wax cleaner and wax. Radio and tape player new, but antennae motor does not work (it stays in place)Cruise control does not work, never did.Spotty oil leaks, but not significant lossTransmission oil leaks, gasket could be changed to slow this down. Somewhat significant loss (top up every 3-4 months)Multiple vacuum leaks, doors lock after the car is started or parked, but it won’t hold pressure enough to lock all doors after it sits several minutes, so when you return to the car, you’ll have to let your passenger in manually. Key does not work with passenger nor trunk. Could need a cleaning, I just relied on the vacuum to do the trick. A/C does not work, but I believe I have all if not nearly all components for it which I will include. I bought about a half dozen condensors until I found one that worked. Newer windowshield, replaced when I bought it Rebuilt auto-leveling suspension (you’ll notice the front sits a bit high, but that is apparently the springs being not fully turned into place?)Engine runs very good with very good turbo power at highway speeds/higher rpm. Starts every time. At cold, it’s quite sluggish, but let her warm up first. Automatic transmission works fine in all gears including reverse. Never slips, though it could use a bit of an adjustment if you want it to be a bit more smooth. This is kind of the way a Mercedes tends to shift. Work with it, not against it. Power windows work. Front windows work smoothly, rear windows are jerky, but work. The driver’s side one was a bit hesitant recently. Windshield washers and wipers, work well. The rear washer sprays, but the wiper recently quit.Manual moon roof or sun roof, slides open as it should. Wagons came with manual sun roofs that last forever, too bad about the sedans with automatic roofs that broke and are impossible to repair.Luggage rack or ski rack is strong, but the chrome is a bit pitted. It still shines reasonably well with polish. Split rear seats fold down easily for huge cargo space.Fan blower and heater work well.Headlights and fog lights work. There is occasional short in the passenger turn signal, but I know exactly where it is at and just needs a squeeze near the light. Upgraded in line block heater works great for cold-weather starting, just plug it in to any three pronged US electrical outlet.Dash is cracked, but still looks good in my opinion. All wood is beautiful, though shifter has a scratch. All lights work, including the ashtray light. Note that the sensors for the door aren’t turning on and off the front light, but I have used sensors and will include them. Seats are worn in the rear, but still fine. Very bouncey. The front seats are fine and comfy. They can be adjusted up and down as well as forward and back manually with the levers.Original paint and I have touchup paint that matches exactly.Frame is perfect and straight, though I did repair a fender bender near the rear driver’s side and it was done with metal. Original first aid kit still there. Old but there. Jack included.Full-spare tire, wheel in decent shape. Spare tire is mediocre, but not a donut. Original bundt wheels. They’re very worn, but not damaged. Front tires very good Michelin, rear tires good Michelin.Brakes work perfect very well. New rotors and pads all around about two years ago.Battery new, less than 1-year old.clean and clear title.Documented service history since my ownership with receipts.
