Vehicle Detail

1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door HardtopOriginal V8 sports coupe with auto transmission This car belonged to a car hoarder I know in Southern California. He has about 12 more of these cars. He bought them in the 60's when he was in high school and parked them covered in his dirt lot. The lot is in the process of being sold and he has been selling cars over the last few years so that they may be restored and put back on the road. I bought this one from him, his only Bel Air hardtop, last year in the hopes of restoring it myself, but plans have changed. This car was hit in the passenger door in 1968, and he bought it for 100.00. He brought the car to the yard, and that is where I found it, 46 years later. I included a picture in the pictures below of how I found it. We established that it was better to replace the door skin, rather than repair the original one, so I bought the highest quality one that Danchuk sells and had it professionally installed. The seller had "borrowed" the original front passenger fender for another car sometime in the seventies, but provided a different Bel Air fender for me. This fender has a small amount of rot on the bottom, but I am supplying a Danchuk patch panel. I have an original rear bumper for the car, but no front bumper. The rest of the car, floor boards, trunk, inner trunk lip, all of it is basically rust free. The only thing I could find are little pin holes above the rear quarter glass. Those pictures are included. The trim tag was missing when the hoarder bought it, so there isn't one. The car is sold on a bill of sale, and is no longer in the DMV system here in California. Feel free to ask any questions, and I will be happy to supply you more pictures. Marc760-644-5254On Dec-03-15 at 13:27:34 PST, seller added the following information: Someone asked about the VIN tag location. Most models in 1956 had the VIN tag on the A pillar, with exception of the Nomads, 2 and 4 door sport coupes( also known as hard tops) and the convertibles. Those all had the VIN tag down by the door hinges. The VIN tag is original, with original welds, and is in the correct location. The car sits on its original frame. On Dec-09-15 at 15:41:27 PST, seller added the following information: I have had many questions about this car, looks like lots of interest. One I wanted to address so everyone knows. The car comes with all of the door flappers, all windows including the passenger vent window, ALL of the hard to find interior window trim and stainless, all of the outside trim with the exception of the short vertical piece behind the door handle on the passenger side. The car also has the original door panels in the trunk, the ash trays, metal backing for the rear panels. Let me know if you have any questions!
