Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1980 CJ-5 Jeep 4x4. This Jeep is lots of fun, off-road or on. Body & Chassis: Factory steel body in gray sealer. Custom front and rear bumpers with tow hooks. Custom side rock slider rails. Drivetrain: Inline 258cid 6 cylinder, carbureted. 4 speed with Currie dual shifter 4x4 transfer case. Warn front locking hubs. Engine reported to have been rebuilt two owners ago, seems likely based on overall performance. Zero miles on brand new ceramic coated Hedman exhaust header. Brand new Meineke muffler and exhaust pipe. Engine oil and filter just changed. Suspension and Braking: 4” lift as shown in pictures. Front disc brakes, rear drum. New Flaming River tilt steering column Wheels and Tires: A set of (5) Super Swamper 31 x 10.50 on steel 15” wheels. Tires have deep lugs and hold air fine, but are showing some signs of cracks and aging. This tread pattern works great climbing off road. Spare comes on a custom swing-away tire mount that is removable from the rear bumper. Interior: Floor is solid, and has been coated with thick spray-liner. High back bucket seats. Center console. Custom aluminum knobs throughout. All stainless: hood and windshield hinges, gas filler surround, tail light bezels, door hinges and hood tie-downs. Professional custom rollbar correctly bolted to frame. Extras: Included in the sale: Brand new Bestop Bikini top, factory soft top, diamond plate doors, and tall jack. Note: This is a great Jeep and is an overall solid and fun trail buggy. Please realize this is also a 35 year old vehicle, and could use some neatening of wiring and TLC. The fuel gauge and possibly other gauges don’t work properly. Terms Please make an appointment to see in person or have inspected by a third party, and ask questions for clarification prior to bidding, as we do not want ANY unhappy buyers. On Nov-26-15 at 12:09:00 PST, seller added the following information: Thanks for all the questions! Here are some responses: Yes, this Jeep holds great oil pressure and the alternator charges like it is supposed to. See new image of the gauges taken while the engine is idling. The only area of the body that has any visible rust is as seen just below the gas filler area which seems a little questionable. The body condition has not changed in the past couple years from what you see now in the pictures. I did not do any body work whatsoever, so I can't describe what is under the sealer. I can say the body appears very solid to the touch, and has no signs of serious rust-through. There is a manual choke on the dash, and helps to start when cold. The engine runs great, although today I noticed a mystery vacuum leak whistle at idle. This was not present before I replaced the exhaust header and cleaned and painted the intake and carburetor, so there may be something I missed. I took a short video of the engine running, and can email this to anyone interested. I don't see a way to upload a video to the Ebay ad, sorry about that. Thanks for all the interest, I appreciate it.On Nov-26-15 at 12:28:19 PST, seller added the following information: I uploaded three videos which can be found on youtube. Search for "Rednickeldog" and you will find them. Thanks for looking.
