Vehicle Detail

link to video Previous auction ended and relisted because I had the wrong marti report. Here is a truly amazing, yet never restored, 1972 Gran Torino Sport Fastback with just over 53k original miles. It has been garaged its whole life and is a beautiful, original and unmolested car. It looks much more like a 5 year old car than a 43 year old car. Everything is almost like brand new including the body/paint, chrome and trim, interior, engine compartment and trunk. Beautiful and desirable Ivy Glow Metallic paint, vinyl top and green knitted vinyl bucket seat interior. Everything from the gold cad plating on under hood bolts to factory stampings are the nicest I have seen on any old Ford, period. You can see factory stampings and markings on the engine, all over the engine compartment, underside of the hood, rear axle, rear valance under the license plate and other areas. No corrosion showing on items under the hood and in the trunk like you would normally see. The trunk is easily the nicest and cleanest I have ever seen. It has a 351W, a C6 automatic, power steering, power disc brakes, original to the car Magnum 500 wheels and what I believe is dealer installed air conditioning. The only other variation from stock is a nice sounding dual exhaust system. Personally I think the car is perfect the way it is and should not be modified. It runs and drives very nicely as you would expect and I would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere. This car gets tons of attention where ever you go, lots of thumbs up and people taking pics. People are astounded at the cars condition and that it has not been restored. Reported to be a 3 owner car (including me) but I don’t have enough documentation to prove it. I would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere, fly in and drive it home! The linked video is a little long but I really wanted to show the details of this car. If you are a serious bidder I encourage you to watch it. I also have more pics of the underside and engine compartment I can email. I noticed after loading the pics that there are pine needles stuck the the lower sections of the car but it probably won't stop raining here for a while so I wasn't able to reshoot them. The color is very attractive and has a very nice metallic to it. The paint shines very nicely and is in overall very good condition. The body is outstanding with no rust or previous rust repairs. No dents or dings in the body. There are various small chips that have been touched up on the front end as you would expect. I believe the passenger fender was at least partially repainted at some point in its life and while it matches very well and looks good there are a few small blisters in that fender. Body lines are excellent and the doors open and close like new. Door jambs look like new. Trunk is in outstanding condition. Engine compartment is extremely clean and looks very correct with lots of factory stampings and original paint everywhere. The firewall is the nicest I have every seen on an original car. Original weatherstripping is excellent. Bumpers, side trim, wheel well and trunk mouldings, grill etc are all excellent and look like new. Underside was never undercoated and is in excellent condition with factory primer and overspray. It will easily clean up and look fantastic. A little surface scale here and there where the factory put on almost no primer or paint but you won't find a cleaner undercarriage. Glass is all excellent. The original Magnum 500’s are the nicest I have seen and even the spare is an original Magnum 500. BF Goodrich tires of course have very low miles.Outstanding original interior with factory bucket seats. Dash pad is perfect and the gauges, including chrome around them is excellent. Carpet is original and looks like new. Door panels, headliner, package tray with factory speakers etc all look like new. Original AM radio works as do the factory rear deck speakers. Heater controls are easy to move and smooth like new. Headlights/taillights, signals, wipers, backup lights, trunk light, heater and gauges all work properly. I did replace the wiper motor because the wipers would not park, however the original wiper motor with correct markings and stamps is included. It could be rebuilt or you could just swap the cover with the markings and it would look correct and original.I have driven this car quite a bit and it is a fantastic driver. The car starts, runs and drives excellent. It is probably the tightest and quietest old Ford I have ever driven. The engine has no smoke or noise, starts right up and runs on the choke. It has good power and sounds nice with the dual exhaust. Transmission works as it should through all the gears. Stock under the hood with all the factory components. Even the heat riser on the exhaust manifold is present and in excellent condition. Suspension and steering are tight with no squeaks. There are no rattles or wind noise when you drive it. Brakes work well and the car stops straight. It is a true pleasure to drive. Big and comfortable enough to take the whole family with you, but no milkshakes in the car! This is a rare opportunity to get yourself a desirable 72 Gran Torino Sport Fastback in the most popular color that has to be one of the cleanest and most original on the planet. An investment quality vehicle that you can actually drive and enjoy and even if you put some miles on it as long as you keep it garaged and take care of it, will continue to increase in value. Look at the pics and watch the video and judge for yourself. Please don’t be afraid to ask questions if you are a serious bidder. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 43+ year old car that while very nice, is not a brand new car nor is it perfect in every way. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. International buyers are welcome. In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose the reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Full payment must be made within 5 days of auction end and vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid.
