Vehicle Detail

Offered for auction my 1962 Buick special convertible. The condition is not the greatest, the paint is an older repaint there are scratches, door dings, creases in the hood from the air cleaner hold down, surface rust in the trunk, areas of the lower body, and the top has some busted seams and ribbing. When I won the car on eBay August of 014, it had been recently refreshened according to the owner, including the engine, front end, gauges, stereo, transmission, and brakes for parents wedding anniversary. Since acquiring the car I have rebuild the carb (best local shop only does carbs), replaced the distributor, added a pointless ignition trigger, repaired a head (welded a crack, replaced two valves and seats hey Dover Cylinder Heads in Atlanta GA you guys are the best many thanks), inspected a piston rings and bearings, and generally applied equal measures of TLC and abuse. There are much nicer 62 buicks on eBay, just not at this price. The winning bid was 4800, if the smoke would clear I have a couple of grand in it over that, not only do you never get out of them what you put into them, you have to deal with all the idiots with 0 to 4 feedback that have no intention of following through on their bid, this is an honest car honestly described, please mess with some other seller, it's getting frustrating. This car starts and drives I have taken it anywhere, it has two major problems with the drivetrain, there is a floor shifter, it is glued to the interior floor, it shifts into all the gears but unfortunately under engine braking or bumps in the road the geometry of the cobbled together shifter bumps it out of second gear, yes I understand it could be the synchronizers, but I'm pretty sure its the floor shifter mounted on floor instead of the transmission, I have been able to work around that when driving, the second problem is bucking under light or no throttle, sorta like when you drove a manual transmission for the first time, having eliminated the points, replaced the distributor (worn weights), had the carb rebuilt, pulled the head with a cylinder with bad compression and some evidence of coolant, pulled that piston, careful reassembly, careful timing and carb tuning, it is much better almost gone, but still there. but on the plus side nothing inside the oil pan, cylinders or bearings would indicate its other than a very low mileage engine. thanks for looking good luck if you decide to bid
