This E12 remained with the original owner and shop until last year and always in California. All records dating back to original purchase are included as are all keys, manuals, brochures and license plate frames. Odometer was replaced due to noise under warranty by BMW November 3rd, 1983 showing 43,984 miles. Documentation is included.Current odometer reading: 183,522 + 43,984 = 227506 miles. The original 2.8 liter M30 inline six pulls exceptionally well, sounds great and has a smooth and steady idle. Excellent compression numbers- verified this month. Bosch spark plugs were renewed at that time. Regular valve adjustments have been completed on schedule and the timing chain was replaced in 2009.No leaks or repairs needed. Always runs cool and fires up at first crank. Clutch is strong and engages really well. Shifts are smooth through all 5 speeds.Always passes California smog check. Current registration.Factory catalytic converter remains, no thermal reactor.Newer Interstate battery and very good Michelin tires on stock Alpina style 14” BMW wheels. Brakes feel excellent. Cruise control works well. The rear differential is beginning to whine slightly but absolutely not critical, just something to monitor and eventually rebuild when ready. Fluid serviced recently. The body of the car, while showing no rust or damage, does carry some imperfections from 35 years of use. This is not a time capsule or barn find- it has been lovingly maintained and driven and has not gone wanting for repairs or suffered from neglect. Because of this, there are several signs of wear to the body, glass and chrome. Minor door dings; scratches and pitting are evident, but not glaring. Paint is rubbed through on hood in one small area. Black plastic mirrors are fading and window seals are aging. Windshield is foggy in the lower corners. The dash is cracked and the wood door trim has peeling clear coat. All underbody is in great shape, no rust or issues. No damage or accident history found. All doors shut with authority. Exhaust, driveline, steering and suspension look good. OEM or equivalent parts used throughout its life. All combined it looks correct and consistent with age.A/C blows cold, all heating and vents works well.Electronic sunroof works perfectly and wind deflector was added by the dealer. Power windows and all interior lights work as new.Aftermarket power antenna was a dealer option and the top of the line Kenwood stereo was added shortly after delivery- both remain and work well (brochures included). Some static when adjusting volume, but otherwise OK. Stereo has a period correct look and sounds good. Speakers appear original.Black leather front bucket seats are in fantastic shape and have been covered by lamb’s wool (included) for many years. Original carpet is excellent and remains the high quality German loop style with additional Lloyds floor mats. The rear bench was splitting and recently re-covered in leather. Rear seat back is original and excellent. The digital clock has power but the LEDs have all but failed. I could not source a reliable replacement but they’re out there.Includes trunk mounted tool kit, jack, spare wheel/tire and the glove box flashlight, which still works. Upper left window sticker remains regarding speed limits for break in period highlighting the originality of this BMW.There aren’t many E12 BMW’s remaining and few are this original and complete. And even fewer 5-speed manual, catalytic converter, California cars at that. Ready for road trips, euro upgrades or daily driving.Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them.Willing to work with your shipping. $500 paypal deposit due within 24 hours of auction end and full payment within 7 days by winning bidder. Car is sold as-is/where-is. Happy bidding and good luck!
