Vehicle Detail

Reluctantly offering my 1968 GTCS to a good home. I am the second owner, and have known of this car since 1989. I met the Original Owner back then when he was selling it. He ended up changing his mind, but we had kept in contact over the years. Finally, he had to sell due to his age and health. I am only selling due to my moving, and I do not have room for it. History: the Original Owner purchased this car for his wife's Birthday. It was bought new at Canoga Park Ford, in Southern California. The Car remained with the Original Owners until 2012, when they sold it to me. Neither could drive any longer, and this was their only vehicle. The car was in Newport Beach CA, for many years. Now in Pasadena. As far as paperwork, I have the original owners manual with Original owners information, the plastic certicard, a few other papers but that's it. I did keep the Original California Pink slip issued to them. The car is titled in my name, with new Title. As you probably already know, there were less than 4,000 GTCS cars made in 1968. All of this information can be found on the California Special Website, so I don't need to repeat it hear. Factory built with Fiberglass rear tail light panel and trunk lid with spoiler, fiberglass side scoops, special striping, fog lights (original Lucas on this car), Thunderbird tail lights, louvered hood. This car has the Chrome front bumper guards, and body colored rear guards. Yes, the car is listed in the GTCS Registry online, as well as listed in Paul Newitts old registry book. No, I never got a Marti report. I knew the Original Owner, the car is all original, everything is there, so I do not see the need. Condition: The car is Original. Original Seafoam Green Paint. Original Interior, although I think the drivers seat may have been redone years ago. The headliner, carpet, door panels, and other seats still are original. What is really nice is the dash is not all tore up. no cracks or tears. Mr. Eglit kept a dash cover on at all times, the car was under a carport as well. The interior chrome has peeled off some on Instrument bezels, door panels. Standard interior. Original stock wheel covers. The head lamps were replaced, but I do have original Ford lamps which will be included. The Original Black stripes and graphics have never been redone. It is not missing anything. Original Spare in trunk. the adhesive on original hood turn locks had deteriorated, so they are not stuck on. The motor is the original 289 C code with automatic transmission. The car has not been driven much. I would say it would need the transmission serviced and the suspension gone through. I use it on occaision locally. One of the turn signal bulbs needs to be replaced on hood. Still has single exhaust. Original California Black Plates as issued in 1968. I have the old registry and new book, which will go with the car. Options: Besides the California Special factory option, it has factory AC, PS, PB, Original AM Radio, front and rear bumper guards. In the registry, it is listed in the group of the first 1000 orders after the original 200. It has the later rear quarter bezels, and the Original Lucas Fog lamps. Original spare still in trunk. There is no major damage or damage history. He did either back into something, or someone bumped him in the back, because the fiberglass tail light panel has a crack, the lens are discolored. You can see in the pictures the rear sheet metal at rear valance has been damaged. Small rust spot on drivers door lower front. touch up paint, scratches in original paint. It is all there, nothing to hide. I have collected some parts over the years. These will NOT be included in the sale of the Car, unless arrangements are made otherwise. These include: NOS Ford Fiberglass Tail Lamp panel with original Ford box, (4) 1968 GT wheels, argent with GT Center caps, (4) in excellent condition, both NOS turn locks never opened, NOS tail light bezels, both and Ford Replacement Chrome Bezels NOS (later type, with Black. Black is incorrect for GTCS cars, but for correctness the Black can be taken off. There are not too many unmolested and Original GTCS cars left out there. This car is special, it has had only 2 owners and has never left California. It is unusual, has a Shelby heritage and is a fun car. This is where it all began!
