Vehicle Detail
Incredible and very rare 1979 Silver Anniversary CJ5 with only 29,839 original miles. This Jeep is the one you want!!! About 1,000 of these special anniversary edition Jeeps are believed to have been built and it's unclear how many remain today. I've got an original advertisement page from 1979 that will come with the Jeep and it describes the Silver Anniversary CJ-5 as follows: "25 and goin'strong! That's our rugged CJ-5. And to celebrate we've created a limited edition that'll knock you out! Just listen to these on-of-a-kind features; slick Quick Silver Metallic finish; racy silver-toned Renegade accent striping; black soft top, black vinyl buckets and bold silver accents. And if that isn't enough a dashboard plaque commemorating the occasion. So, what're you waitin' for?! An anniversary like this only comes around once every 25 years!!! The Silver Anniversary CJ-5... at your Jeep dealer, now!" This Jeep has NOT been restored, is in excellent original condition, and runs great! In addition to the pictures in this post I've uploaded a walk-around video on YouTube. If the link doesn't work you can search "1979 Jeep CJ5 Silver Anniversary Edition - Excellent Original Condition" https://youtu.be/gapKJiNwn8k My grandfather purchased this jeep new and towed it behind his motor home for a few years. Most of the miles on the Jeep came during the early years in conjunction with being towed behind the motor home - I have a Jiffy Lube receipt from 1990 showing the mileage at 27,154, and a Master Muffler receipt from 1985 showing 19,285. I've had this Jeep in my possession since 2009 and it's mostly been sitting in my garage with the occasional drive around the neighborhood. 304 V8, 3 speed manual, original paint, original soft top, original spare tire, original rims, original carpet, original seats, and yes even the original smog equipment! I've got an advertisement page from 1979 along with the window stickers, manuals, and various pamphlets that will all come with the Jeep. Repair & service records prior to 1985 have been lost, but here's the items I have documentation for: -Date of delivery/first use - May 26 1979 -Price on original window sticker $8,225 -Title transferred to son-in-law on 4/2006 -Title transferred to grandson and current owner 8/2009 -New muffler 1/1985 -Jiff Lube full service 8/1990 at 27,154 miles -New key switch 3/94 -New clutch 12/94 -New tires 11/97 -Carb rebuild & plugs/wires 2/2000 -Jiffy Lube full service 3/2001 at 28,252 miles -Cam & lifters 1/2002 -Jiffy Lube full service 3/2002 at 28,717 miles -Jiffy Lube full service 8/2009 at 29,354 miles -New fender flares 7/2015 ( I have the original's if you want them - the passenger rear had a small dent) This Jeep is in excellent condition, but keep in mind that it has NOT been restored. The paint, body, & decals are 36 years old and have a few rust spots, scratches, chips, & fading. There is also a small dent on the hood from what looks like a paint can. I've tried to include pictures showing an accurate representation of the body condition, but if you'd like additional pictures or have specific questions please let me know. It's an original Jeep so there's a few different small fluid leaks, and after sitting for a few weeks will need several pumps of the gas pedal and engine cranks to start. The center console is not original, but came from an 80's wrangler so it looks just like the original. Additional items that could use attention include a few loose dash knobs, cracked interior door handles, a squeaky driver front wheel, and a non-working clock. I'd like any potential buyers to know exactly what they are buying and so I'm happy to answer questions or provide additional information or pictures. With the limited production of this model and the tendency for most Jeeps to get beaten up in the mountains, this Silver Anniversary Edition is the collectible Jeep that you'll want to hold onto for years to come!!! Payment --- This Jeep is in Southeastern Idaho and will need to be picked up. A $300 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is due after the close of the auction, with the balance due within seven business days, or upon pickup of the vehicle. We can do cash, cashier's check, wire transfer, or eBay's escrow service. The title will be given or mailed to the buyer when full funds have been collected and cleared the bank. Ebay account status --- An Ebay account with less than 5 positive reviews will have it's bids rejected unless the account holder communicates with me and receives permission to bid. On Sep-20-15 at 15:50:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of fantastic questions have been coming in over email and it's been great to speak with many of you on the phone. I thought I'd share answers to some of the common questions and provide some additional info. My cell # is 208-844-0841. I can generally respond quickly unless I'm in a meeting or something. This Jeep is a true collectors item which makes it worth a lot of money, but it's not 100% perfect which subtracts a little. I did not include a buy-it-now price or reserve because it's been tough for me to separate the sentimental value from the realistic value. Now that I've made the decision to sell this Jeep I'm happy to let the auction winner have it for their price. Date on the driver's side dash sticker is 3/79 Date stamped on the radiator is 04 03 79 - looking at standards in Canada they use a variety of formats so it's tough to tell if this is April 3rd or March 4thOriginal window sticker price was $8,225 and the EPA rated this jeep at 15 mpg with an estimated fuel cost of $.70 cents per gallonUnder the carpet the passenger floorboard has a few small rust spots and the drivers side has several, but there are no holes and it seems like the metal underneath is okay. I can text or email pictures of the floorboards. The factory carpet has a rubber skid surface built into the drivers side and most of the rust spots are concentrated under this rubber skid.Dash is PerfectSteering wheel has a few small cracksThere is an undercoating that probably came from the dealer or was installed soon after. It's kind of a dirty brown color now. Squeak in drivers front wheel is only when going forward and has been kind of random. Usually it's when you first start driving the Jeep after it sits for several months. The center console is not bolted down. As stated above it's from an 80's wrangler, looks like the original but the holes don't line up and I didn't want to add new holes. The jeep was wired for towing behind a motor home, that's the white wire & plug you can see in pic 24/24Pic 20/24 shows the drivers seat with a small tear where your right cheek would sit, no other tears or cuts in the seats. Driver & passenger seat should have 4 buttons, but each is missing one. I'm happy to answer as many questions or send as many pictures as you would like! On Sep-27-15 at 15:18:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Found the two missing buttons for the front seats!!!! Somebody asked for a picture of the floor behind the front seats and I found the buttons under the drivers seat. The floor behind the seats under the carpet looks great, small evidence of rust where the roll bar pad is bolted to the floor but very very minor. I have pics of this now too if you want!
