Vehicle Detail
We have owned this truck since last fall, and it has been my husband's daily driver. We'd never had a lifted truck before, and this one is fairly tall, with oversized tires. Well, we found out neither of us really likes a tall, lifted truck! We'd rather have something a little more sedate, and closer to the ground. So when the four-wheel-drive went out a couple weeks ago, we decided not to even get an estimate on fixing it, we are selling it "as is" to someone who will either fix it or who doesn't need a 4x4 and will use it as a standard rear-wheel drive vehicle. I will cover this issue first, and then detail all the good features in this truck. The four-wheel-drive was working fine until mid-August; we'd used it in the winter, and also occasionally doing yard work during the very wet spring and early summer we had this year. Then the front drive failed to engage, and my husband says the shaft from the transfer case to the differential turns freely. (Which it shouldn't do.) We don't know what it will take to fix it, but the truck is perfectly usable as a rear-wheel drive, for as long as you want to use it that way. If and when you decide to fix the four-wheel drive, everything else should work just fine. Now for "the rest of the story..." The body on this truck is quite good, there's a sprinkling of surface rust in the normal spots (rocker panels, tailgate area) but no rust-through and it really does look nice on the road, with its black fender flares and trim. Has a full Pendaliner brand bedliner, in great shape, and a sliding back window. It has an awesome welded Flowmaster exhaust (excellent) and the tires are also excellent, they are Goodrich All-Terrain 33x12.50R15LT's and have plenty of tread. (See photos.) Someone welded a step at each side of the cab, these are unbelievably sturdy and extremely handy for getting up into the truck. The interior trim and upholstery shows a little wear but is in overall good condition. The dash is cracked where the sun hits it, but that part is down in a sort of gully up next to the glass and isn't very visible when you're sitting in the truck. (I've included lots of photos, so you can see all of the defects as well as the good parts.) We are not smokers, and didn't smell any odors when we bought it, so that is good also. No tears in the seat upholstery, but the driver's seat needs to be re-stitched along the outside seam, and there are a couple small torn spots on the vinyl at the back edge of the fold-down center console. There is one crack in the lower center part of the windshield (visible in the same photo that shows the cracks in the dash), this doesn't interfere with the view and in fact, you don't even notice it unless you look for it. It has completed a loop that goes up a few inches, travels parallel to the bottom of the glass, and then back down, so it has completed its circuit; it won't get any bigger. (Windshield doesn't leak.) All of the power windows and locks work, but the driver's side lock control lever has come loose from its position in the door. I've included a close-up photo of this, as well. It didn't come to us with a working radio so we installed one, it wasn't brand-new but is a newer model JVC with CD and removable faceplate. It works fine and sounds good. The truck has high mileage but the motor was replaced by the prior owner; we bought it at a dealer and so we don't know how many miles the motor actually has on it. Here's a list of the new parts and things we have done since we've owned it: New ignition switch (with two sets of keys), new left rear brake cylinder with brake line, replaced both rear brake shoe sets, new license plate light, and a front-end alignment. We also had the AC re-charged and tested at a local shop this summer, they didn't find any leaks or problems. We are located in South-Central Indiana, about 60 miles southwest of Indianapolis or 10 miles west of Bloomington. If you are interested in seeing the truck before bidding, please write and we can set up a time. The truck is currently licensed, plated and insured, so a test drive won't be a problem. I've included lots of photos, and have tried to cover everything in the description, but please examine all the photos carefully and feel free to write if you have any questions. Due to the four-wheel-drive (or lack thereof!) the reserve is well below the current Kelly Blue Book for this year, someone could get a real bargain on a good, clean, solid truck. Good luck, and Happy Bidding! I will be glad to answer questions if you have them.
