This 560sl has been my daily driver for eight years. It was running fine until I took it to the Mercedes dealership in Northfield because of a clicking noise; here are their notes about what should be done: -needs right cam shaft -needs driver's side doorcheck -p/s gear box and p/s pump reseal -transmission reseal leaky -front and rear brake pads and rotors -brake flush -coolant flush -diff.ser. -all four tires are from '08 -the underbody rust is "bad" Other problems: the car has AC but it doesn't work. Visible rust, broken trim, and 3rd brake light painting all can be seen in pictures. Windshield wipers have medium and fast speed, but the intermittent setting no longer works; cassette player may be broken; 2-3 maintenance lights are on, but twice I've taken it to the shop and the mechanic says the fluids/lights work fine, and the sensor might be too sensitive; the radio works but the speakers are in bad shape; the antennae does not go all the way up, but works fine for most radio reception; the hood insulation is deteriorated and falling out (see picture); there is a crack in the console near the gear shift. Good news: the removable hard top and the soft top are in excellent condition, and the tops retract and remove and operate without trouble. The car drives great, very powerful! Up until the clicking sound (that's the right cam shaft repair, I think) the car was driving and handling perfectly. Now I feel some resistance and know repairs are in order. Whether you choose to get the work done or use this as a parts car, it's a great car that has served me well. Comes with hard top storage stand.
