Vehicle Detail
This 1984 Honda XL600R has a XR's Only big bore kit, which I think makes it a 620cc, it is a beast, I have owned this bike for 25 years or so, can't even remember exactly when I bought it from my friend who owned for only a couple of months having bought it from the local classifieds from an older couple that got stuck with in some kind of divorce settlement. I can honestly say its the most fun bike I have ever owned, and the only bike to put me in Shock Trauma from a 3 mph tip over in the backyard, resulting in a compound fracture tibia and fibula, in hundreds of thousands of hours the only broken bone I have ever suffered. Sometime in the early 90's I rebuilt the bike with the bike bore kit, new gears , shifting forks, clutch plates , bearings and a valve job, it is definitely time for that again. Upon start up there is terrible piston knock, after a 5 minute warm of gentle riding the noise goes away, and the bike will still easily top 100, it jumps out of second gear, no doubt the result of all those clutchless upshifts while riding wheelies, it has a broken front brake lever, (they are under 5 bucks after market), one side panel is melted from the Al Baker XR's only after market exhaust including stainless header pipes, when it fell on that side when I went over backwards in a parking lot, which also broke the talilight license plate holder, it is held together with hot glue and has held together good enough for at least 5 years, it comes with extensive spares, the original carbs, the original exhaust, and various bits and pieces. It is a 31 year old motorcycle with just under 30,000 miles , it has gone from Manhattan to DC , the gravel pit, and anywhere else I got the urge to go. It is time to be refreshened again, to my mind this is how a motorcyle should look, no doubt due to my age, it is rough, but it still starts on the third kick , and has the thunderous torque that only a big bore single cylinder can provide. Thanks for looking good luck if you decide to bid.
