Vehicle Detail

I have to take exception to the title and odometer "PROBLEMS" as reported by AutoCheck. The only mention of a lien in their report was on 11/06/1985, which makes sense, as the car was probably financed to purchase. If there was an issue with the lien on 02/03/1995, then the car could not be auctioned unless the lien was satisfied. As far as the odometer readings go, there are errors all through the information listed!! How do you go from 106,450 to 160,000 (in less than a year!!) and then go to 15,000? A better explanation would be that the odometer actually read 06,450, as it has a five character limit, the 160,000 was an error from the emission inspection station, and the 15,000 was what was showing on the odometer at the next record. On 12/05/2009, there is an entry in red with a mileage of 54,258 shown. It is noted that this information was received by the Motor Vehicle Dept. In the notes it gives the title number and that this was for a REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL, but it also has the note EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS. The biggest problem I have with this red flag is that the mileage actually fits right into the sequence of the mileage numbers noted before and after this particular notation. So, if the problem was not a ROLLBACK, then how is a ROLLOVER an issue at over 54K miles on the odometer when it only logs five characters and, from the information provided, the rollover happened around ten years earlier? Using their criteria, then, any car with a five character odometer limit that exceeds 99,999 has an odometer problem!! After seeing how cavalier AutoCheck is with this information, I would be hard pressed to accept their evaluation without a thorough review of the information provided! Up for sale is a rare 1985 Ford LTD LX sport sedan with 84K showing on the odometer. It appears now, after careful review of the information in the AutoCheck report, that the mileage is actually slightly less that 184K. The car was originally purchased in AZ and brought to CA, where I eventually bought it. I drove the car to Cedar Rapids, IA in late Sept 2014, when we moved here. These LTD LX cars were built for the 1984 and 1985 model years only with a total production of approximately 3260. The sister car to the LTD LX is the Mercury Marquis LTS, which was only built for Canada and only for the 1985 model year. It is estimated that only 136 LTS’ were built. Both models used the Mustang 5.0 HO-CFI engines with an AOD transmission and 3.27 posi, Equa-Lok rear end with the larger, 10” drum brakes. Suspension included the large Mustang GT sway bars front and rear, HD gas shocks, LTD LX specific HD springs (stiffer than Mustang GT), and the 15:1 quick ratio steering rack. The interior is LTD LX specific in charcoal with buckets seats with lumbar support, console, floor shift, and LTD LX specific trim panels on the dash and console. The steering wheel is charcoal with LTD LX specific horn button. The body has the LTD LX specific, body color hood bullnose and grille, with charcoal headlamp doors, charcoal front and back glass moldings, painted charcoal surrounds on the side glass, black outside door handles and lock cylinders. The side moldings and bumper rub strips are LTD LX specific in charcoal with red stripe. The car is complete and unmolested, with the exception that I no longer have the original wheels. The car will come with the ’87-’90 Mustang GT wheels with 225/60-15 tires shown in the photos. This LTD LX has the following additional options: AC, P/W, P/L, power driver’s seat, power mirrors, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, intermittent wipers, remote gas door release, digital clock, AM/FM cassette radio, and cornering lamps. All options work, including the AC. The car is running and drivable and got us from California to Iowa without incident. The car has rarely been driven since shortly after we got here. We found out quite quickly that it was not going to be a good vehicle in the snow, so we bought a 4WD Explorer for that. Plus, I didn’t want to drive the car in the snow anyway to prevent rust. The car has little to no rust. I have taken photos to show what little rust there is, which is surface rust predominately from the paint wearing thin. My plans for the car were to convert to 5.0 HO EFI with a 5-speed and 8.8 rear end and install SN95 Cobra 5-lug, 4-wheel disc brakes. Health issues and circumstances changed all of that and my wife ended up using the car for her daily transportation for the last couple of years. I made an agreement with my wife that I would only have one project vehicle and, as I have one I want to keep, the LTD LX has to go. Having owned three LTD LXs over the last twenty years, I also have additional parts that would be available for sale, if the buyer would be interested. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will do what I can to help, but I am limited due to recently having heart surgery. A deposit of $500.00 through Paypal is to be made within 48 hours of auction end. Balance to be paid by bank transfer within seven days of auction end.
