Vehicle Detail
1966 Dodge Charger ***Low Reserve*** (Please note the "Buy It Now" button will disappear once the low reserve price is met.) You are bidding on a 1966 Dodge Charger, factory big block car, 383-4BBL, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows, etc. It is in non-running condition. Based on the fender tag it looks to have been built by the factory on December 02, 1965. This is one of just 12,328 383-4BBL engined 1966 Chargers produced and delivered to United States dealerships. Very straight body, never in a major collision, all panels are intact (Note: The driver's side front fender is original, it's simply painted over after some very light body filler). This is essentially an orignal rust-free body; that is to say that I have not come across any true cancerous rust, only surface oxidation and the panels are still solid in those locations as much as anywhere else on the car (see attached pictures of the undercarriage). It's a numbers matching car in that all the VINs are intact. The factory Broadcast Sheet has been retrieved from beneath the rear seat, is legible, and is intact. This vehicle is essentially complete and non-running, less air cleaner and less radiator (has the hemi radiator option on the VIN fender tag). The engine has an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold. The rear window glass is not installed and is resting atop the body. There are no keys for this car. I recently hooked up a battery to check a few key items for function and found the following: driver's door power window works, driver's side rear quarter power window works, passenger door power window works, passenger's side rear quarter power window seems stuck but the motor receives power and the window attempts to lower but cannot...so it must be something relatively simple. Also, the headlights were fully closed until I powered the headlight switch and the lights flipped around to the open position and the passenger side hung up mid-way while flipping around. It seems to have a mechanical interference of some kind but both headlight motors did actuate. This is a factory original, unmodified example and is being offered here as a non-running candidate for a restoration. This vehicle is stored indoors at a warehouse in San Jose, California, and is known to have been in San Jose for at least the last 30 years (ie, California car). The California Certificate of Title is free and clear, and there is no back registration due on this car. I have described this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. Please ask any questions you might have before bidding. All interested parties be realistic in their expectations and keep in mind that this vehicle is 50 years old. All sales final, sold as is. Car must be picked up within 10 days of auction close unless other arrangements are made with me in writing (via eBay messaging system, etc.) prior to auction close. All domestic and international bidders are responsible for arranging pick up and transport of the vehicle. Payment in full due within 5 days of auction close. Happy Bidding! :) On Aug-06-15 at 17:57:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 06 AUGUST 2015: Today I hooked a battery up to get a few more details about the car's lighting. First, three of the four power windows do work, meaning the driver and passenger car door windows work, and even the passenger-side rear quarter window goes up & down a little further each time it's actuated, so that one seems to only need a cleaning and grease. However the driver's-side rear quarter window does not move. Back to the lighting: All four headlights do work, meaning the low beams and the high beams function as they should. Also, the full-length rear tail light lights up all the way across as well (all 6 bulbs illuminate). The brake lights work on one side only and it's possible that the 1157 twin-filament bulbs on the opposite side have a filament out or that turn signal was on or something like that (afterall, I did get brake lights). The interior cabin lighting works as well, meaning the lower front foot well lighting on both sides of the center console lights up, the rear cabin light bulbs (aft of the quarter windows) light up, and even the bulb in the center console's compartment lights up. I was unable to confirm instrument/dash lighting. The car was outside for the day (we were moving machinery around the warehouse) and so maybe the instrument lighting was difficult to see in the daylight? Cupping my hand around an instrument bezel didn't help. If I get another opportunity to confirm dash lighting one way or the other at a later date I will report it. On Aug-09-15 at 16:06:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 09 AUGUST 2015: With the Charger back inside the warehouse and out of direct sunlight, I re-connected a battery and checked the instrument lighting; they did not light up, but I did not think to check the fuse box (I don't even know where to find the fuse box in the car, haha). The rear brake lights and tail lights do seem to work afterall, and which brake bulbs light depend where the turn signal indicator is positioned on the steering column, which of course makes sense. I would think that anyone who has the time to dedicate to going through the car as it sits will likely get even more systems back online without much effort. I just don't have the time. Today was probably the last day I had to make any evaluation directly with the car. By the way, if anyone can tell me how rare or unusual it is to have a 1966 Charger with the factory installed power windows option please let me know--I cannot find this info anywhere. I have described this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. Please ask any questions you might have before bidding. I am not trying to pass this car off as a turn-key 1966 Charger, therefore I ask that all interested parties be realistic in their expectations and keep in mind that this vehicle is 50 years old. All sales final, sold as is. Car must be picked up within 10 days of auction close until arrangements are made with me otherwise before auction close. Payment in full due within 3 days of auction close Happy Bidding! :) On Aug-13-15 at 13:57:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 12 AUGUST 2015: Surprise! The "Buy It Now" price has just been reduced by $1000!
