Vehicle Detail
This is a great example of a well cared for 1986 Mustang GT convertible with some mods to make it nicer to drive, handle and look. This is the third fox mustang I have owned, and by far the best. Bought new in Georgia, where it remained until I bought it. Last year we moved to North Carolina. We took this car on the 2014 Hot Rod Power tour. Starting in Atlanta, to the kickoff in Charlotte, all the way to Wisconsin Dells, and back to Atlanta. In 8 days we logged 3000 miles and had no problems at all. Before the trip, in May, 2014, I put on 4 new tires, serviced the AC, which was already converted to R134, new outer tie rods and lower ball joints and alignment. Refilled the rear end with Redline gear oil and friction modifier. The car runs great, tracks straight, AC blows nice and cold, and everything works as it should. It has a new black top with tinted glass rear window. Manual windows. New exhaust, aftermarket h pipe with flowmasters and tails. 3.73 gears. Original interior is in excellent shape, dash is not cracked, carpets in good shape, no rips in the seats. Aftermarket CD player. Previous owner cut door panels for speakers. The underside was never undercoated, and the car is rust free. Original paint is in very good shape, but is not perfect. I believe the trim has been painted before. The car has an 85 trunk lid for a cleaner look, but the original luggage rack lid is included. Cool fact, this car was one of 6 pictured on the cover of a Mustangs Unlimited parts catalog, a copy of which comes with the car. 4th of July weekend, we had plans in Georgia with family. Last minute I decided to drive the Mustang. After sitting for 3 weeks she fired right up, ran from Winston Salem to Atlanta in traffic with the AC running, never got hot, and got 22 mpg. Stock 302, runs great, no smoke or funny noises Tremec 3550 trans, new clutch and adjustable quadrant Full welded subframe connectors Engine bay strut tower brace Camber/caster plates 5 lug/ rear disc brakes Adjustable brake bias valve Bullet wheels New exhaust, aftermarket h pipe with cats, flowmaster mufflers and tails Brand new hankook 255/40/17 tires. (about 5k on them) New fan clutch 85 no luggage rack trunk lid (original included) Original paint No rust, no accidents Clear NC title in my name Couple things I noticed on the last trip- High beam indicator bulb burnt out Speedo cable making noise, needle bouncing, cable probably needs replacing soon. The material on the outer driver side seat bolster is a little thin in a small spot. This car is reliable enough to jump in and drive anywhere enjoyably, nice enough to take to cruise ins and shows, gets tons of attention, and has been a pleasure to own. I will probably regret letting it go, but I'm ready for a new project to work on as the kids get older. I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as we have. We made some great memories with it. Please note that while the car is in great shape for its age, it is almost 30 years old, there are a few small dings and touch ups , below the body molding, there is some crazing in the paint. You have to get close to find these things, I just don't want any disappointment . There is no warranty, car is sold as is. The reserve is set at a fair price, if you have any questions call me at 404-328-8129. My name is Garet.
