You are looking at a VERY SOLID 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof that has had a complete restoration done on it to include a performance drivetrain upgrade. This car's restoration was done about 15 years ago and while at first was taken care of and stored properly; then the indoor storage space was lost and the Mustang was relegated to outdoor storage under a Blue Tarp for about 5 years and the elements took its toll on the paint on this car. Besides that the car has fared pretty well all things considered! It needs some freshening now as a result of its long term storage, but is a super solid car that is turn key!!! This car was a retail order at an Atlanta Area Ford Dealer in DSO 21; Friendly Ford in Decatur, Ga and was ordered as a very Basic 302 V8 Fastback with an automatic transmission and factory Air Conditioning. It was ordered in Medium Lime Metallic with a Ivy Vinyl Bucket Seat Interior. I have the Deluxe Marti Sheet to document it's original options and production numbers. This 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof was originally ordered with the following equipment: 302-2V V8 Engine C4 Select Shift Automatic Transmission 3.00 Conventional Rear Axle Medium Lime Metallic Paint Ivy Standard Vinyl Bucket Seat Interior AM Radio E78-14 Belted White Sidewall Tires Wheel Covers Air Conditioning-Selectaire Tinted Glass This car only really needs a light cosmetic freshening and is a SUPER SOLID platform from which to start with! This car has nice floors, torque boxes,and frame rails (SEE PICS). Inside the trunk is also very solid with nice trunk floors and drops. Overall this is just a VERY SOLID car underneath!! The Sheetmetal on the car is also in very good shape with NICE Solid Hood, Fenders, Doors, 1/4's and Decklid. The driver's 1/4 was replaced at some point and some of the filler they used has started to crack and will need to be re-done. The passenger 1/4 is the original 1/4 and has just a bit of rust down low from a clogged drain. Nothing major and a simple repair. There are a couple of other minor rust spots from the where the paint has chipped off from the poor storage, (see pics), but again overall the sheetmetal on this car is VERY SOLID!! The interior in the car has all been redone, but is showing some wear. Seats are not perfect, but are in very good shape, Carpet, door panels, headliner are all in excellent shape. The Dash is very nice but does have one crack on the speaker edge. During the restoration they opted to put the Mach 1 Woodgrain Instruments and Clock Panel to liven up the interior some as well as having the seats redone in the Mach 1 Comfortweave pattern. While it does show some wear, it certainly presents itself well (SEE PICS) and is a very serviceable and fully functional interior. The original unassuming 302-2V and C4 Automatic Transmission were both replaced and the Mustang has been treated to an upgraded drivetrain. The Mustang is now powered by a stout, yet relatively stock 429 Thunder Jet Engine and a C-6 Automatic Transmission. This is a VERY CLEAN Installation. The motor looks factory sitting in the engine bay. It still retains it's stock cast iron Intake and Exhaust Manifolds. It does have a Holley 600 Carburetor, set of Chrome Valve Covers and Chrome Edelbrock Air Cleaner to dress the 429 under the hood just a bit.. The Transmission shifts well and functions as it should. Car has also had a Rear End upgrade to go along with the added Horsepower and Torque of the 429 the original 8 inch light duty rear end was upgraded to Ford's Legendary 9 inch Rear Axle with what I believe to be a 3.25 ratio. This is a Factory Air Conditioned car and ALL of the Air Conditioning Components are there and WORKING!! The Air Conditioning has been completely gone through and upgraded to use R-134. An updated Sanden Compressor was added when the AC was gone through. The AC is blowing cold and carries a full R134 charge. The car from looking underneath has had the front suspension rebuilt and had new shocks installed. While they have been on there for some time, they don't appear to have many miles on them. The Tires had gone bad from sitting and were mounted on an aftermarket set of wheels so I opted to replace them with a NEW set 15x7 Magnum 500 wheels and added BF Goodrich Radial TA Tires. They look and drive GREAT!!. The car had been sitting for many years and I have had to do a bit of work to get the car up and running. It has a New Battery, New Fuel Pump, New Plugs, Accelerator Pump, etc. It is now registered, insured in my name and road worthy. I have been driving it on a semi regular basis just to get the Mustang's legs stretched a bit and some seat time for me too and have probably put a couple of hundred miles on it in the last several weeks. But it still has some long term storage bugs that pop up from time to time. The more I drive it the better it runs and performs. The Brakes are a bit spongy from sitting and while they are improving just from use; the car could benefit from a brake job. This car basically needs a paint job and a some general freshening to make it a really nice car again. With a little more seat time little by little the long term storage bugs will make themselves evident work them out. You will be able to blow the cobwebs out the more you drive it and make this car a great driver again. This is a Solid Car that has had a lot of work done to it and is a LOT of car for the money!
