I am re-listing this simply due to high bidder not paying. I have NO RESERVE and a low starting price of $1000, I just want an honest sale with someone who will follow through and pay/pick up car. Thanks! I know this is a rather long listing, but especially because this car is NOT RUNNING I want to be as transparent and informative/helpful as possible. Also, buyer is responsible for shipping/picking up/towing the car. Payment needs to be within a week, but as long as car is paid I will work with you on a reasonable time frame to have it shipped. I have had cars shipped and I understand that sometimes if you don’t need it picked up ASAP you can get a lot lower quote. This could be a steal for the right person. The car has some nice modifications that could probably be parted out and alone be worth it my starting price of only $1,000. I just have no time or desire to do this. Please also consider than despite the low asking price/starting price, this is NOT a good car for someone that cannot fix this themselves, or afford to have the repairs done, etc. Again, I ’m just trying to be honest here, and make sure you understand the car needs work for it to run. Running, it is a really nice/solid/fun car to drive. I will definitely miss it, even as a commuter car,etc. About a month ago, on the way home from work, car started misfiring heavily, then overheated and I guess damage was already done by time I pulled over. Apparently an old heater hose cracked and coolant was totally gone. According to mechanic heads are damaged, and I was quoted more than the trade-in value of the car to repair replace heads, and a bad alternator. Not sure why alternator went out at same time. I am not trying to make any money off this, I just prefer the idea of someone enjoying the car again instead of just selling it to salvage yard, or parting it out myself. I probably would make more money, especially since interior is in good shape. I have sold 2 cars before on ebay and I have excellent feedback, and will do my best to tell you everything about the car. I believe I am the second owner of this car, and have owned it for 8 years (bought in Northern California). I haven’t had any problems up until recently. I hate to part with it this way, but it doesn’t make sense for me to pay a mechanic more than worth of car. Also, I have an 8 month old baby now and had been contemplating a bigger car/SUV anyway. FLAWS- Below are all the flaws that I can think of -things that you should know about. The main thing is of course, it doesn’t run, and buyer is responsible for picking up/arranging shipping. Aside from the heads and alternator (and now battery), there are no other things wrong with the car, mechanically, other than cosmetic items, at least that I or my mechanic are aware of. However, keep in mind this is a car with stock turbos at 155,000 miles. While they are to my knowledge totally fine now, they obviously don’t have too much time left on them. Also, to my knowledge the APR tune is relatively conservative in comparison to some, and also I used this car primarily to commute, so maybe this is why they have lasted so long. Rear bumper has a dime sized hole, right side (see pic) Rear bumper left side has a deep scratch through paint Hood should be repainted (IMO) due to rock chips and multiple scratches in clear coat (see photos, maybe these could be buffed out?) The GOOD! For its age, car looks really nice still, both inside and out, overall. I got quite a few comments from people not familiar with B5’s that they couldn’t believe it was an ’01 car. Modifications/renovations include -KW stage 1 coilovers -RS4 18” replica wheels -Remus exhaust https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zo8JPTUuZDU (this is actual car, several years ago when it was running obviously) -APR stage 2 ECU flash with 93 octane and 100 octane programs -About 2 months ago had completely new rotors/pads put on by local brake shop. Just stock, no big brake kit, etc. -About 6-9 months ago I replaced driver’s side door hinges with OEM/new, it was sagging due to wear I guess, and was really annoying. -About a year ago the original key was getting worn out, so I bought another, the sale includes 2 standard fobs and one valet (see pic) -Interior wise, I found the center console thing was always annoying and getting in the way, so I removed it. Sorry, I had never planned on selling car and I guess I threw it away in cleaning up the shop. -I didn’t like the chrome inside door latches (and a few were sagging, common problem with age I think), so I removed the latches to replace with new ones (I think 3 are new, don’t remember which, but def. the driver one). Anyway, I had latches powder coated flat black, looks like RS4 but more importantly to me just didn’t have that annoying chrome look. -RS4 shift knob a friend gave me as a gift. -I also wrapped the fake bird’s eye maple in the 3M silver/metallic looking adhesive, this can be easily removed, but a few panels, on the front doors, that have started to wrinkle a little. The center console and dash still look pretty nice, and if you didn’t know they were wrap, really look like aluminum. Please be clear this is an AS –IS sale, there is absolutely no warranty, I am completely certain the car does NOT run. What I have told you about the mechanical reason it doesn’t run is exactly what a reputable European mechanic has told me. As far as I know, this is the only thing wrong (Although obviously a huge thing wrong!) On Jun-27-15 at 06:59:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to another Ebay member for asking me-I'm sorry I totally forgot to include in the original listing that the LCD gauge cluster display is pretty bad/most of the pixels don't display well if at all, but this is pretty common with age in these cars. It can be repaired, and the entire cluster doesn't need to be replaced. I had intended to do this a while back but just never got around to it. Obviously the more pressing issue is the engine. I will be contacting the high bidder to inform him/her. Thanks and sorry for forgetting this!
