Vehicle Detail

Genuine and documented Meyers Manx. Built on and registered (through July 2016) as a 1964 VW with a clear California title. The Meyers Manx was the first street legal dune buggy, and shortly after its release in 1964, it broke dune and Baja racing records. Extremely capable and fun to drive, on or off road. Notably, Steve McQueen drove one in his film The Thomas Crown Affair. While over 300,000 clones exist, the original Meyers Manx were produced in numbers fewer than 5,000. This particular Manx has the desirable "B.F. Meyers and Company, Fountain Valley, CA" plate riveted on the body. The number of digits on this plate also confirms that this Manx was created when Bruce Meyers was still with the company. All documentation from the Manx Club, hood badges, registry tag, and an official Certificate of Authenticity signed by Bruce Meyers himself will be included in the sale. The Meyers Manx was recently profiled on Jay Leno's Garage (viewable on YouTube), and an original Manx represents an outstanding automobile for long-term appreciation. This Manx is finished in the a very attractive brown metallic paint with very cool custom 1970's hand pinstriping. The paint has a really nice patina and looks great. Through the trim tag and the Manx archives, the original color of this Manx was determined to be Code 7E, Golden Orange, another groovy 70's color. The fiberglass body is in great shape and is testament to the quality of the bodies produced under Bruce Meyers. The floorpan is free of rust or corrosion of any type. The interior is upholstered in brown vinyl and shows use and minor tears, but is still very serviceable. The front seats are actually far more comfortable than they appear and I have driven this Manx has been on several lengthy day trips without discomfort. A matching tonneau cover is also included. This Manx has been upgraded to large disc brakes in the front and KYB shocks which make for a much safer and pleasant driving experience.. The dual port 1600 VW motor has been recently rebuilt. The motor runs excellently and DOES NOT SMOKE OR LEAK ANY OIL. New carb, battery, and starter ensure that this Manx is ready to go at a moments notice. Disclaimer: Even in car-crazy Southern California, driving a Manx will get you noticed on the roadway. Not for the shy or faint of heart. I find it impossible to drive a short distance without other motorists stopping traffic, requesting selfies, or giving a thumbs up. The car is sold "as is". I will assist any prospective buyers with a pre-purchase inspection at any reputable shop in the LA area. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. I am happy to send additional pictures at a buyers request. The car is very close to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and I can facilitate transportation there for International shipping. A $500. dollar deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close (Paypal ok) with the balance payable in Cash, Cashier's check, or wire transfer. Additionally, this car is being offered for sale locally and is subject to prior sale.
