For sale is a gorgeous 1974 tin top camper! This has always been a southern California vehicle, and so it is virtually rust free! The paint is original, except for the many touch ups to prevent rust from forming. It could use a paint job at some point, as the paint (especially on the roof) is getting pretty thin. There are dings & scratches, as you would expect with any 41 YO vehicle that has not been completely refinished & repainted. The body is arrow straight & I'm certain has never been in an accident. The interior is super nice with the sink, stove, refrigerator & panels original 1974 equipment. The stove needs a propane canister, & the frig needs a 120v hook-up to work perfectly. If you wanted to add an auxiliary battery & beefed up alt, you could run the frig (switched) while driving. The water pump for the sink's water tank stopped working & I have not replaced it. The carpet has been replaced & the seats (newer) recovered. As I said the interior original equipment shows very little wear and is really nice! All the window seals have been replaced, and I will never do that job again!! Also included is the original storage hammock & a full privacy curtain for the front. Mechanically, the engine & trans run extremely well. The engine was rebuilt & fine tuned within the last thousand miles by one of the best VW & Porsche builders in NorCal (Jensen Enterprises). Special build includes an Elgin camshaft, a 3 angle valve(TRW's) job, a 30m oil pump & scat lifters. The rotating mass & camshaft has been dynamically balanced & of course it includes a new clutch. It has only been run on Brad Penn 20-50W oil. This great 2L is mated with the upgraded 091 trans, so as you might guess it will run strong for a long time. It is a great highway cruiser!!! The brake system has been completely rebuilt. New parts include drums & shoes, rotors & pads, calipers, wheel cylinders & brake hoses. The bus almost stops on a dime!!!!! The battery is excellent, the tires (205X65X15) are 70% & the rims are nice. I really can't think of anything, other than a paint job, muffler, tail pipe & radio that I would do to this van. So why am I selling? I am getting out of the VW market entirely as I have other interests to occupy myself with. I just sold my 1966 Beetle, and now this is the last of the old VW's to go!!
