Vehicle Detail
1965 Mustang Fastback. We rescued this Mustang from a junk yard in 1982. Clear title. All items rebuilt or new since then. Rebuilt 289-2v, 3-speed manual. Very few miles since - always garaged, non-smoker. This car is nowhere near perfect but is reasonably priced. This is not a 20k car - there are plenty you can buy for that price and I'm sure they are in better condition. The body was stripped, body work done, painted, completed about 15 years or so ago. I don't remember all the details of what was done. I do know that the car had prior collision damage. The driver frame rail seems to be a replacement part, but that would have been done prior to '82 and before we purchased the vehicle. I do know that bondo was used (by the paint guy) in the rear tail light panel and rear quarter area, behind, and in front of the wheel arch. Bondo was used on the hood. I'm not aware of other significant areas but I'm sure bondo skim was used throughout. The engine was rebuilt/balanced/blueprinted by a custom engine builder. The transmission rebuilt by a very reputable trans shop. Driveshaft was balanced. New dual exhaust. Rebuilt carb. Recently new fuel lines and fuel pump. The 8" rear end seal has always 'weaped' - and mechanics have tried to fix it, Folks, due to the volume of questions, I don't have time to answer them. Ask me for pics, I'll send you the pics and I will answer best I can here. I don't deal off eBay. I don't barter, haggle, trade, etc. I have 100% positive feedback and only deal above table. The price is what it is. You can pay it if you want - or not. This is my mom's car. She is older and not able to show the vehicle to joy-riders - we've had those, and they have walked away saying they enjoyed the drive... It's a waste of time. So, we've done that and aren't in the mood to deal with that anymore. Sorry. Questions received: Q: Any rust issues on the body, floors and trunk? A: The car was in North Texas - Dallas area during most of its life so rust was not an issue. As far as I know, there is no significant (not surface) active rust on this car. It has been in a dry garage for many years, so don't expect any. Floor metal and supports have been replaced. Trunk is fine, gas tank replaced. Q: How is the cowlvent, no leaks? A: The cowl does not leak as far as I can tell. I washed it and it was not wet on the floor.A: We replaced the front floor and floor supports with new metal. The front floor was replaced due to someone putting in aftermarket seats and seat rails. The trunk was fine (replaced gas tank, etc.). I will answer any question that you have - please ask before buying. Please email me your request for pictures as eBay doesn't allow links to Flickr.
