Vehicle Detail

1980 Suzuki GS1000s Wes Cooley Replica Nice rare bike less than 1000 sold in the United States from what I can find out. Clear Tennessee title in hand. Bike has been owned by a good friend of mine for over 20 years, always dry inside storage (until I got it June 6th, it is still on the trailer under a cover, haven't had time to make a spot in the garage for it). Last was started about 2 years ago, not sure if or how far he may have rode it. I have not tried to start it, petcock is leaking, I am sure the carbs need to be cleaned, front brakes do not work and the battery is dead. The ignition switch is missing the lock cylinder but I do have a key that fits the gas cap and seat lock. Has escaped the normal Krylon paint job, appears to be all original paint, does have a couple of dings in the tank, the fairing has some road rash on the upper left. The inside of the tank appears to be in good condition from looking in the gas cap area, no tank sealer to clean out. Chain guard is cracked. The instrument cover is damaged as shown in the photo and a gauge cover is cracked. No idea of why the seat and tail section alignment is so bad, I can't see anything that looks badly bent or broken. Has 2 seats, one with the optional Elvis velour insert and it has a very small surface rust area on the base. Have another seat not on the bike and that seat base has rust issues and the seat cover is torn. Pipes are from a 1000L model and have rust on the head pipes. I have tried to show all of the damage I can in the photos. if you have a specific area you have more questions about or need more photos just ask. I do have a new NOS windshield, NOS upper fairing mounts and one NOS mirror (I did have both and one broke the base as I was putting it back in the box, not sure which side I was to mad to check) I have been trying to buy the bike almost since my buddy bought it and last week he let me know if I wanted it I could have it. My intentions were to get it running and looking as good as I could without doing any bodywork at this time. However we have major family health issues and I don't have the time in the foreseeable future to even clean the carbs. my loss is someone gain. I my be able to deliver the bike for FREE up to 300 miles one way from Knoxville TN. I have never shipped a bike but I am 30 miles from the Forward Air Terminal forwardair.com and would deliver it to them. I have also saw the Daily Direct/Haul Bike.com trucks in the area regularly. haulbikes.com JC Motors may be another option. motorcycleshippers.com/ again I have no experience with any of them, just see them on the road. I do not want to export the bike and deal with the customs paperwork Bike does not move by shipper unless payment in full has cleared. I will deliver the bike after the deposit has cleared. Payment is due in full IN CASH whenever I deliver the bike. I would prefer to deliver or have the bike picked up with 14 days of close of auction and I can delver it the weekends of June 6-7 or June 13-14 I am not available for pickup or delivery June 18-26 under any circumstance (the health crap I was talking about). I will try to answer any questions ASAP or get more photos. I haven't listed anything in a while so I am sure I have forgotten something so please ask if you need info. Please try not to wait until the last 24 hours because I work stupid hours and may not be able to answer before the close of the auction. I don't like to end auctions early that's why it has a buy-it-now button. This is a 35 year old motorcycle that is not currently running, it shows no external signs of anything that would prevent it from running after normal carb cleaning and tune up. Motorcycle is sold as is with no warranty. On Jun-05-15 at 07:07:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry, no time machine just operator error I bought it May 31, just looked at the damned calender in a hurry. Thanks GS forum for all the support On Jun-07-15 at 18:59:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Spent today cleaning the worst set of carbs I have ever seen, float bowls full of yuck, slides were stuck and throttle butterflies were stuck. I think they turned out good but if I was doing a total restore they need to be ultrasonic cleaned and new carb kit. Also got the front brakes flushed and bled with a mighty vac. Bike has good spark and cylinders #1,3 and 4 have 130psi compression #2 has 115-120. Petcock is leaking to bad to try to start it though. Also went to a Suzuki shop that has been in the same location for 45+ years and they had a new mirror in stock to replace the one the idiot photographer (me) broke I now again have a set of NOS mirrors to go with the bike. I wish they had 20 sets I could retire but the one I got was the last one. No other shops with 100 miles been the same location or owner very long. Bike still needs a petcock or a rebuild kit before it will run.
