Vehicle Detail

** Original California Cruiser **This is a rare opportunity to own a very cool, full custom, one-off, chop top VW Bug. These cars are going up in value and you'll never find another one like this!Don't miss out on a chance to own one of the coolest Classic VW Beetle Bugs ever built.Buy It Now Price is negotiable, submit your best offer!Serious buyers only. If you have less than 10 ratings, please contact me before buying or making an offer. You are looking at a very unique 1966 Volkswagen Beetle with a 56' top (oval glass & larger vents) installed and fully done to show quality. Seriously one of the best chopped tops that you will see on a car. 4" chop that fits and looks perfect. People look hard to find where it was cut and all I get are compliments on how well it was done. According to previous owner, the car was featured in VW Trends Volkswagen magazine right after chop was completed. Fresh re-spray of base coat black and flat clear coat, less than one year ago. This year the car got new air ride components including: Dual Viair Compressors, Airbaggit air engine & fill/dump valves, lots of new fittings, front air shocks, new 4 gauge wiring for air ride system, digital air ride management with psi readout. Air ride holds pressure on all four corners, no leaks while driving. Mileage is listed as shown on Speedo but I can not verify that it is actual mileage. Also new is a brand new Compu-fire High Performance, Dual Cool, 90 amp alternator with built-in regulator and Optima Red top battery, both used to supply the power to the fully custom, high end sound system. Brand new Hertz speakers, Cerwin Vega amp, and Pioneer head unit was also added this year. This car is all custom, front to back, top to bottom, inside and out. I will describe everything to the best of my ability. If you have questions, please ask prior to purchase. Exterior modifications and suspension customizing include:Second to none 56' top chopped 4 inches, with oval glass and larger engine vents. Fully Rubberized Undercoated DUB RODZ Chassis installed by Pete Skiba at AirKewld ($3500 in 2004!). Absolutely no rust, very straight body and nice lines. 140 psi Air ride with air shocks up front and bags in rear, electronically controlled with digital readout, installed by AirKewld. Shaved door handles, bumper guards, trim, hood handle. Front fenders were also shaved and filled with custom headlights. '50s-style lake pipes. Full alarm system with remote door opener. Custom glass with manual door windows. Red powdercoated 5 lug VW wheels trimmed with 356 hubcaps and topped with Mooneyes' bullets. Irs trans. Original 1966 1600cc engine that fires right up and runs great. Mileage may change during sale. Originally a 6 volt car that has all been converted to 12 volt: wiring harness, 90 amp alternator, 12 volt bulbs, etc. While at Airkewld in 2004 they also did a stock trans rebuild and added wide five drum brakes, according to the receipt. I have a receipt from Airkewld showing the charges for their custom chassis, installing original body on custom chassis, air ride suspension, brake work, trans rebuild, etc. Right at $7400 on this one Airkewld receipt, for a very small part of the full customization to this ride. This one receipt from 11 years ago doesn't include the cost of chopping the top, other body work, custom paint, custom interior, all of the parts and components needed, or cost of the car itself. I'm sure it would take more than double to build, once you found a shell and chassis as nice as this one. Chop tops done right are not cheap, this one is excellent!Interior modifications include:The entire interior of this custom ride was very well done. With it's dome shaped top there is plenty of room inside. If you're a taller person, you'll be surprised. I have a 6' 2" friend that is comfortable while driving this car, plenty of leg and head room. Custom trimming done by Solano Auto Body in Vallejo, CA, Smoothed dash to show off only the speedo, glove box, air ride readout, and a couple of switches. Custom pinstriping on dash done by Matt Seret from Garage Ink in Hayward, CA. The white-rimmed steering wheel, which turns a stock 66' box, is from Mooneyes and is capped with a large chromed bullet for an added custom effect. The steering column is also painted white to match the steering wheel. The interior is complete with custom red bucket seats, full headliner, custom door panels, TMI full carpet kit with Dynamat underneath, custom kick panels in front and entire back of the car was done in custom panels all wrapped in red and black vinyl. This chop top also has a full headliner, from front to back. Custom subwoofer enclosure houses two 10" Definitive Audio Designs dual 4 ohm subs powered by a 500 watt Cerwin Vega amplifier. For super clean sound I upgraded all four speakers to two sets of Hertz HSK 5.25" components with mids, tweeters, and crossovers. The Hertz speakers are powered by a JL Audio 400/4 amplifier. All the sound comes from a brand new Pioneer head unit. This is no entry level head unit, the sound is truly impressive with its Burr Brown processors and 16 band eq. The head unit also allows you to fine tune the system and you can play your favorite music by CD, Bluetooth, or plug into the front AUX jack. I think you can add XM with an additional tuner but I would need to double check that. I like that the head unit has a voltage readout to show the vehicles voltage so no extra displays were needed in order to keep an eye on the vehicles voltage. Old school Mooneyes tach is included as well and it works perfect. I did run the hands free microphone and pair my phone to the head unit, for hands free calling. This stereo system is a must have with a car like this and no matter what you listen to, it sounds awesome. There is also a custom sub level knob under the dash for bass control, and the interior has custom made LED accent lighting that lights up both front kick panels red and glows red from behind the EMPI fire extinguisher. The LED accent lighting can be turned on/off via a switch next to the head unit. The wireless remote control for the radio is not attached to the glove box door, I normally keep it in the ash tray. The Optima Red Top battery in the concealed compartment behind the rear passenger seat. The cover has a main power shut off switch, if needed. We tinted the rear three windows with a red film that looks awesome in person. Even with the minor flaws for its age, this is overall a very cool car that would make a great addition to any collection! This custom ride turns heads, gets pointed at, slug bugs, pictures, and is a great conversation piece, everywhere I've taken it.I recently pulled the carb off and did a full clean on it, adjusted the points, and have a brand new rotor cap and bug still new in the box that will go with the car. After cleaning the carb and adjusting the points, it was a night and day difference in power. I've had it up to 70 mph and it was actually quite smooth. When I purchased the car, the last guy I bought it from didn't tell me the air ride was leaking out of some fittings and he didn't tell me that the charging system wasn't working. As soon as I bought the car, all the air ride work was redone, a bunch of rewiring was done to replace wires that I thought should be bigger including all new top of the line wiring for the compressors and valves, directly from the Red Top, new power wires and connectors from the battery to the starter and alternator, $280 Compu-fire 90 amp alternator, replaced a bunch of wiring under the dash, all new 12 volt bulbs in original speedo (which works), and a at least 10 new air line fittings that were $10-$40 each. I have a clear Missouri title in hand for this car, along with all of the paperwork that came with it when I bought it. The car has a rebuilt title only because of the chassis/frame change that was done to it. One paper shows where the original chassis was sold to Airkewld, I would assume they buy them to customize them for a new build. I checked the numbers on the body, chassis, and engine and have found that they all from 1966. I have several papers that go with the car showing different chassis being purchased and sold, for this vehicle. I have other documents which show previous owners, transfers of title(s), applications for new title with new chassis, etc. I also have an original copy of the magazine that the car was featured in.I bought this car to promote my business and it has done extremely well for us, now its time to move onto something else. This is one very cool and unique Classic VW, don't wait until someone buys it before you. I am self employed but will try to answer any questions as quickly as possible. I didn't have the car built so I may not be able to answer every question, but please don't hesitate to ask. Buy from me, buy with confidence. I have a 100% feedback on Ebay since joining in 2003.If possible, I invite you to come see this car in person to inspect for yourself and to see how nice the build is. Because of the age of the car I will be selling it as-is, no warranty and am not responsible for an issues that may arise once the new owner takes possession. Buyer can pick up directly from me or I can help meet with transport. If Buy It Now is used, I will deliver for free, within 100 miles of 65802, in an enclosed trailer. If lower offer is accepted, I will deliver in an enclosed trailer for $2.00 per mile, up to 100 miles.I prefer cash, bank check or wire transfer. Full payment can be made via Paypal, if buyer pays all fees.If you make an offer I have 48 hours to respond. Don't make an offer if you're not a serious buyer. Accepted offers are a binding agreement to purchase the vehicle. Deposit is due within 48 hours, final payment is due within 36 hours, unless other arrangements are made between buyer and seller. On Jun-02-15 at 18:27:03 PDT, seller added the following information: If you have less than 10 feedback ratings, don't forget to contact me prior to bidding.I apologize for any inconvenience but I am still dealing with the buyer from the first time I listed it, that did not reply to emails, follow the guidelines, or pay the deposit. Sending me a quick message is just establishing communication while making a larger purchase. I've been on Ebay for over 12 years, even sold a $75k car without any issues. This buyer cost me money and a huge inconvenience. Serious buyers only, please. I appreciate your understanding.Don't let someone beat you to this one-of-a-kind, awesome California Cruiser, hit the "Buy it now" option. You couldn't build a custom car that draws as much attention as this one, for what I'm asking! On Jun-04-15 at 21:18:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I've uploaded a quick walk-around video of the car, check it out! The video is a little better than pictures but not near as good as in person. The car runs great and the stereo sounds awesome in person. I was going to turn the tunes up and make the subs dance but I knew it would sound like crap on video. Every time I to add a link from you tube, ebay blocks it. If you don't see a link, go to you tube, then search: Full Custom 1966 VW Bug https://youtu.be/LACKEMnxTjkOn Jun-06-15 at 15:51:51 PDT, seller added the following information: We took the bug out to a couple cruises today so it has about 20 more miles on it. I'm always blown away with the crowd this car draws, while parked in the middle of so many other nice rides. On Jun-07-15 at 09:24:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Over $25,000 dollars just in custom work and parts, not including what the rare car itself is worth! Don't spend all summer (and a lot more money) building a custom ride to cruise and take to shows, this one is ready to go. This car will not disappoint, it gets a ton of attention and complements, everywhere it goes. Hell, it's had over 3,000 views and has over 100 watchers in just the past six days, on Ebay! It is well worth the Buy it Now price. However, silent reserve is much lower than Buy it now price. Don't miss the chance to own such a cool, one-of-a-kind, custom car, bid or buy now! If reserve is not met, the car will not be immediately relisted.
