ATTENTION! Please be sure you have read EVERY WORD and looked at EVERY PHOTO. and ask ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING on this listing. This is a serious auction for serious bidders. I am tired of wasting time and money on people who don't do this. If you are prone to making bidding "mistakes", buyer's remorse, don't have the money, need someone's permission, are not mechanically inclined or don't understand how ebay works, I respectfully ask you to move on to the next listing. Everyone else, welcome! High bid wins! Up for auction is a 1999 BMW 540it Touring Wagon Sport Package with a 6 speed manual transmission. Those familiar with E39's know that no such animal exists. The car was converted by its previous owner. He did most of the hard work but the car still needs more. I bought it last July with the intent of finishing it up, but at this time I am forced to sell it AS-IS this week at NO RESERVE. Please bid only if you are willing and able to complete the transaction according to the terms listed further down. If you have any questions, PLEASE ask them BEFORE you bid. If you would like to inspect the vehicle, it must be done BEFORE the auction ends. When I got the car, it was running and driving. It seemed to have a sensor type problem as it was lacking power at lower speeds. But once you got up to highway speeds, the thing was an absolute beast. I never got around to figuring out what was wrong but I suspect there is a problem with the Vanos system causing improper cam timing at low speeds. The timing chains were not noisy but they are a common problem with these engines. However, the last time I tried to start it, the starter turned the engine but it wouldn't run. I don't hear the fuel pump running so something needs attention there. For the purpose of this auction, I want the buyer to assume the worst case, that the engine will need to be completely gone through or replaced. You may very well get away with much less. When the car was driving, I did check out everything else. The clutch, transmission and rear end all are excellent. The brakes, steering and suspension all felt solid. Has Bilstein shocks on it as well as a M5 steering box, which has a quicker ratio than the stock one. All of the windows and sunroof work well, All other power options were working as far as I recall. The A/C and heat were good as well. DSP Stereo sounds great. The previous owner had some ECM coding done to match the transmission to the car. The only thing he didn't get done was the starter signal. The key turns the ignition on normally, but you have to touch two wires together to turn the starter. The body is in decent shape but there are a few minor spots of rust that can be seen in the photos. Nothing very deep. There is also some fading here and there, as well as chips and scratches. The interior is in great shape for a car of this age. A few of the dash pixels are fading but everything can still be read, see pics. The previous owner gave me all his spares he had laying around, which I am passing on to the new owner. There are the items in the picture, which includes a spare fuel pump, master cylinder, guibo, airbox, etc. Also included but not pictured is the stock steering box and a OEM AC condenser. I paid big money for this car but I am selling it for whatever it brings. I am getting a hard time from my landlord and need it gone immediately. My loss could be your gain. This would be a great car for a BMW mechanic/enthusiast who has the time and facility to work on it. It probably wouldn't take alot of cash to fix it, and then you would have a badas* car that nobody else has. There have been very few conversions done. A properly done car could have a $15-20k value so this is a bargain. It also would make a great parts car although I would hate to see it go that way. The driveline and interior are easily worth a couple grand. TERMS AND CONDITIONS, PLEASE READ!!! Vehicle is sold AS-IS and WHERE IS, with no warranty, expressed or implied. Serious, qualified bidders only. If you have negative feedback, bid retractions, or less than 10 feedbacks you must contact me before bidding or your bid is subject to cancellation. $500 NON REFUNDABLE deposit by Paypal required within 24 hours of auction's end. Full payment required within 7 days. Payment methods are cash in person, verifiable cashiers check from a national bank or direct bank transfer. If full payment is not made within 7 days of auction's end, deposit will be forfeited and item will be relisted. Vehicle MUST be picked up by June 17, 2015 unless prior arrangements are made between bidder and seller BEFORE auction's end. If not picked up by that date, buyer agrees to pay actual costs to tow the car to a storage facility of seller's choice, and storage fees until the car is picked up. These fees must be reimbursed to seller before vehicle is released. Seller will assume no liability for loss or damage while in such storage facility.
