Up for auction is this rare, one of 1200 built in 1947. 68 Series Special Deluxe Convertible Coupe.This Olds is a mild custom featuring a chopped manual folding top, frenched 49 Ford taillites, frenched headlites, shaved door handles,peaked hood and shaved decklid. Olds is powered by a 1968 472 cu. in. Cadillac V8 with a turbo 400 transmission.Rear gear is 307:1 from a 53 Pontiac.in the stock olds housing. The engine has a factory rebuilt carb, new oil pump,new fuel pump and recent timing chain and valve seals.Suspension features Fatman dropped spindles,and cut coils up front and Chevelle lowering coils in rear.Stock leveraction shocks and stock brakes with a power booster.Steering has a GM 605 power steering box and a Nova non tilt column with a 58 Chevy Belair wheel. Olds has an aluminum radiator with a flex fan and an electric pusher fan.Paint is PPG DP 90 epoxy with Krylon flat black for a softer finish on top. car has original bumpers and grille, green tinted glass, black seat area is a carpeted bench.Wheels are NOS Rocket Chrome reverse from the Seventies(.I have original boxes.) Tires are radial wide whites. This car needs some obvious panel fitment and finish body work. Body was solid and exterior was fairly rust and damage free. Floors and trunk have been replaced. Needs some frontend alignment, (toe etc). Olds runs cool on hiway but runs warm in high traffic.Stock Dash with rebuilt speedometer (still 10% off) has Tack and oil and water temp under dash.
