Vehicle Detail

I still have all of the manuals and frame shortening directions when I built this great little car back in 1979. Never used this for off-road, just hauling the kids to baseball games and the like and enjoyed every minute of it, it had the original engine in it until 2010, when I met a guy that turned out to be one of the finest VW engine builders in the country, Rich Sedoris, from Youngstown, Ohio. After meeting Rich and telling him about the buggy which was still running fine by the way, just getting tired, we decided to build a new motor from scratch that would give us some more cruising horsepower and just go over the entire vehicle after all these years, Rich built the current engine that performs great and really makes the buggy perform. My kids have all grown up and all want the car, but none have storage space available etc., so I thought I would see if somebody else might be interested in having it for their own memories with their family. It will run and cruise all day at 65 MPH, the radial tires were installed in 2007, and still look new, and are the first set of new tires that were put on the car since the tires I put on it when I built it in 1979! These cars see minimal use and we ended up using this less than 500 miles per year over the 35 years or so we owned it! The engine was built as a 1904cc, which we felt was a good set up for the buggy, over $ 3000.00 was spent on the engine upgrade in 2010, As far as the interior, the rear seats were recovered a few years ago when the stereo was upgraded, the front seats are slip on covers over the fiberglass seats. The 1968 bug that this buggy was built from had over 100k miles on it and was purchased from a school teacher who wasn't very happy that I was going to cut up her bug! But the front end was replaced 10 or so years ago, the transaxle was gone through about the same time, and then in 2010 the new motor, with new brakes etc., so the running gear on the car has less than 10k total on it. Take a good look a the pictures, I will be happy to send you additional pictures upon request, you are welcome to come take it for a drive. I have a tow bar that will go with the sale, and I have flat towed the buggy for over 400 miles back and froth to Michigan a few times with no problems, it is very light, so you can tow it with a pickup truck with no problem. I am selling the buggy "As Is", and again, you are welcome to come look and drive prior to the auction end. I will require a $1000.00, non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction end via PayPal, then the balance and pickup within 7 days from auction end. I may be able to meet you by towing the buggy for some fuel and time money. Winning buyer will need to contact us within 24 hours of listing end, and transaction must be completed within 7 days. The vehicle is advertised locally, and we do reserve the right to end the listing at anytime.
