Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 4x4 - 3 speed manual column shift. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored FJ40. It has only had two owners and spent its entire life in the dry climate of Arizona. The original owner sold it to the second owners in 1973 when it had 36k miles. The second owners have had it for the past 42 years. The second owner (husband) is a WWII Veteran and now approaching his 90th birthday. He and his wife kept exceptional log books with maintenance notes, gas fill-ups, and service records from 1973-2011. There are no log books from 2012-2014. The owner states the vehicle was garaged most of its life and was repainted “a long time ago”. It has not been driven much since 2011, but regularly started, driven close to owner’s home, and fuel stabilizer has been regularly added to keep the fuel from going bad. The owners kept many original parts which were replaced due to being inoperable, worn, or just in need of upgrading. These and other miscellaneous parts are shown in pictures and included in the sale. This FJ40 is like a “barn find” which has been garage kept. Cosmetically, the vehicle is very straight, but has expected notable wear. To accurately disclose the overall cosmetic condition there are 150+ pictures. The only cosmetic upgrades are the front seat covers (they had to be replaced because the original vinyl seat covers were worn down to the springs). The “Coral” color used on the front seats is very close to the factory/oem color. The vinyl on the rear seats is original –these seats were in storage most of the FJ40’s life thus the good condition. There are detailed pictures of the undercarriage and inside fender wells to show that there is no rust. There is an area of rust on the back as shown clearly in pictures. Mechanically, the FJ runs good, idles perfectly, and shifts through all of the gears without any problems. We only drove it approximately one mile in a residential area to ensure that it ran good and that the transmission functioned properly. There is valve noise, but I believe this is inherent to these engines. Note: while driving, if the clutch is engaged while turning a sharp corner there is a repetitive clunking sound as though there is some type of restriction occurring. There is no noise when turning unless the clutch is depressed. Mechanical history notes: There is a notation in one of the log books stating: August 1984 rebuilt engine 85,692. The owners do not remember whether the engine was replaced with a rebuilt one or if the original motor was rebuilt. Please see the two photos showing documentation of this event. The rebuild information and a detailed rebuild receipt are shown. It is not known why the Oil Bath Type Air Cleaner was relocated to the passenger’s side of the engine compartment. There is moist oil on the pan which indicates a leak. Despite meticulous maintenance and care for many years, a complete restoration is much needed. There are several items which do not work on the vehicle including the turn signals, brake lights, and the heater (owner said it was just disconnected). Likewise, there are numerous items which work as they should: windshield wipers; headlights and tail lights; the choke and throttle; front drive axle lock light; and more. The owner cherished and thoroughly maintained this vehicle for many years. Amazingly, there are approximately 38 years of log records. Please see the pictures of a sampling of log book entries. Being from a dry climate, it is our hope that this FJ40 is an ideal candidate for being restored to its original condition. The winner of this auction will receive the log books, Toyota Service Booklet, and the original and miscellaneous parts as shown in pictures. The Arizona title from 1973 (shown in pictures) will not be included in the sale as it will be turned in for the obtaining of a Nevada title. This is a NO RESERVE auction and the high bidder takes the FJ40 home. We are a licensed, bonded, and insured auto dealer here in Las Vegas and Nevada residents will be charged sales tax. There is a $250 doc fee which will be added onto the closing price. As-is. Shipping rests in buyer’s hands. If you choose to fly in and drive home I would be more than happy to pick you up at the airport. A $500 pay pal non-refundable deposit is due within 24hrs, and full payment is due within 5 business days. Miles may vary slightly by end of auction. If you have any questions or would like more pictures please feel free to email me through Ebay. Due to the interest this vehicle will have on eBay, we do not have a “But It now”. JC Motors has an exceptional history of customer service and business ethics (please read our extensive feedback history).
