This is a Jeep Jeepster Commando, manufactured in Toledo, Ohio in October of 1969. I believe this vehicle was sold in California or Nevada originally, and has stayed in the region for it's entire life. It has been kept in a garage when not used. It is 45 years old, turning 46 this October. It has NO body rust. It is currently a registered vehicle in the state of California, and is road legal. I do drive this Jeepster regularly. It is an active, running vehicle. In California, it is exempt from emission testing, and costs little to register. This is a driving project, its not quite done but it works. The carburetor runs a bit lean, the shocks are worn, steering is rather loose (it doesn't pull when braking), and the transfer case needs a pin on the outside. The gauges on the dash board need work too, but its an easy job. Like I said however, this is a running, driving vehicle. This vehicle is in very good condition with VERY little rust. This has been a simple father-son restoration project, but after my dad's fourth spinal reconstruction surgery, he is unable to work on or drive this vehicle. I have taken care of it well, but I lack the money to restore this vehicle alone and try to go to school at the same time. This is a very rare vehicle, and is in great shape. It isn't in need of a off the frame restoration, Its the little things around it. The hood and grill are from an cj-5. The latches and hinges are the exact same for the Jeepster Commando, with the only difference being that the hinges in the front on the fenders are in a a few inches farther out. New parts recently installed: -The brakes were redone in 2014. I have the receipts for all of this. -The temperature sending unit is brand new-The tires have less than 5000 miles on them. They are basically brand new.-The speedometer cable is brand new-The interior is spotless, and the seats and floor were completely redone in 2011. I take a lot of pride in this jeep, and do not tolerate dirtiness inside or outside.-The brake master cylinder is almost brand new, it was put on in august or last year-The Brake booster is almost brand new, it was also put on in august. -The Brakes were completely redone in august.-There is a brand new Neutral Safety Switch installed.-The steering box was worked on a bit recently Other stuff:-230hp at 4400 rpms and 350 ft lbs of torque at 2400rpms. This Dauntless V8 has power.-There have been no lift kits ever on this vehicle. -Despite the steering being loose, this does not affect the vehicle's handling at highway speeds. The alignment is perfect however, and the steering is a minor issue. -The engine mounts have been newly replaced-The oil was changed only 50 miles ago, and I am very good about changing the oil regularly. -This vehicle is always stored in an enclosed garage, it does not sit outside while at it's home. -The top of the vehicle is completely removable, and is comfortable without it. It is taken off for special occasions regularly, but requires 2 people to lift. -I have the title in hand, and the registration is good until July. *It comes with a set of emblems for the hood. It also comes with a spare tire carrier which holds 2 Jerry cans. I've been asked about this vehicle often, if it was going to an auto show, or comments on how rare it is. It turns heads when you stop. There are few of these still driving, and fewer for sale. For a 45 year old car, this is in fantastic condition. This vehicle is located in Barstow, California. It isn't in storage. This vehicle is a running and working jeep. Once the temp and oil gauges get fixed, I have no doubt this vehicle could drive a thousand miles. This vehicle is sold as is.
