1990 PONTIAC SUNBIRD LE CONVERTIBLE Up for auction is a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird LE Convertible with the original 2.0L OHC 4-Cylinder Engine and 3 Speed Automatic Transmission. 127,980 miles.This car has a current PA State Inspection expiring 6/2015, all four brand new tires with less than 3,000 miles on them and still lots of tread, is great on gas, surprisingly comfortable and easy to drive for a 25 year old economy car, has a clean, well maintained interior, and an aftermarket Kenwood CD Player.So, why am I selling it you ask? Well...The car is in non-running condition due to what I believe is a blown head gasket as well as a worn out piston ring on the #4 piston. The reason I believe the engine has both of these issues is due to excessive amounts of blue smoke coming from the tailpipe, burning high amounts of both antifreeze and oil, constant heavy carbon build-up and oil residue on the #4 spark plug, and now oil spitting out of the throttle body into the air cleaner. The A/C, convertible top, and both passenger windows are not working either. The clear coat on the hood is badly damaged and has largely peeled off.If you decide to rebuild the engine this is still a decent car that easily passes inspection every year. If you decide not to rebuild the engine you still have a good parts car as all body panels are solid (although the doors do exhibit some early signs of rust) with great glass, transmission shifts great, wheels and tires are in great condition, and the interior is clean and in very good condition.Asking $1,000 but will accept offers too.
