Vehicle Detail
I am selling my baby. I've had her almost since new. This 2004 Mazda MX-5 Miata Mazdaspeed has been well maintained and has had regular synthetic oil changes. It has only 73,000 miles (original) and the engine is very strong, thanks to an aftermarket intercooler, a manual boost controller, a Flyin' Miata complete intake, and a Flyin' Miata O2 signal modifier. It's never been dyno'd, but if I were to estimate, it has about 10 to 20 more horsepower than standard. The clutch was just replaced about 50 miles ago due to a bad throw-out bearing (we did the clutch, pressure plate, and both bearings). The tires are a few years old, but they have very few miles on them and have lots of life left. The brakes are but a few years old too with very few miles on them. It also has one new coil pack. Mechanically, the car is sound, but the power locks stopped working a few years back and I just never bothered repairing it since it's easy to just reach over and lock the door. All the other electronics are in perfect condition. As for its condition, I took copious pictures that show all of the issues. There are some small dents and dings, but nothing at all major. There is paint peeling on the front, passenger-side fender and the front bumper, and the front, passenger-side fog light is broken (all pictured). The original Racing Hart wheels do have some minor curb damage and from lazy tire guys trying to mount the tires, nothing major at all (I'll provide images upon request). This car has lived 95% of its life in Florida (it was titled in Pennsylvania, but only spent a few months there) and there is zero rust. The convertible top is less than two years old too, so it should be good for a long time (believe me, you do not want to replace this thing!). The interior is in really good shape; no cuts, stains, or rips that I can think of. The plastic is all is great shape too, as I regularly maintain it with the best products. The carpet shows some wear, of course, and the steering wheel and gear shifter both show wear from driving. Neither are terrible, just worn a little where I rest my hand. On Feb-07-15 at 01:18:17 PST, seller added the following information: Edit: It just came to my attention that the number of owners doesn't seem to match with the amount of time I've owned the car. Just to clarify the number of owners being four; when I purchased the car, it was initially put in a relative's name for credit purposes, but it was my car and I was the only one who drove it(the relative lived in PA and I lived in FL). After paying it of, I then transferred the car into only my name. So prior to me, there were really only two owners. To be specific, the car was just three years old and had just over 20,000 miles when I purchased it. Sorry for any confusion. On Feb-07-15 at 01:27:27 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to add one other minor flaw the car has (sorry, just trying to be as honest as possible). On the driver's side of the bumper you may notice that the gap between the bumper and the fender is slightly wider than it is supposed to be. One of the clips that secures the bumper to the fender broke (no idea how) and it was almost unnoticeable, so I just left it. I am going to try and have that repaired before the end of the auction, given I can find a replacement clip. If this is unacceptable to any current bidders, please let me know and I can remove your bid. On Feb-07-15 at 01:35:53 PST, seller added the following information: Sorry, I described the bumper flaw inaccurately. It is where the rear bumper meets the rear, driver-side quarter panel (not fender). Sorry, I should have had a cup of coffee before typing that... On Feb-09-15 at 06:33:33 PST, seller added the following information: Three quick updates: 1) I understand that the fact that I do not allow pre-purchase inspections by bidders may be unsettling to some, but there will be systems in place at the time of transfer to protect all parties involved. We will do the transaction at my bank and there will be a notarized form that gives you the opportunity to request a refund and return the vehicle following a test drive after the sale for a full refund if there are any serious mechanical issues that were not covered in my description within 48 hours of signing the document. This will only cover major mechanical issues, so if I missed a ding somewhere or something of that nature, that does not qualify. I have done my best to list out every issue (hence the updates), but I am only human :). I am also willing to send images and videos to anyone who requests. So please ask if you need to. This would give you ample time to drive the car and have it inspected by a certified mechanic. This will also protect me from minor, nit-picky things that may not have been caught or folks who just want a joy ride only to return the car with damage claiming I was dishonest. 2) I detailed the car yesterday (I was a professional detailer a few years back). I used all professional products, including leveling compound and a polymer sealer, so its new owner will receive a nice and clean ride. I will update the images ASAP. 3) In cleaning the car, I was reminded that there is no spare tire. I am not too sure if it was an option on this car and left off, or if it was lost at some point. It wasn't there when I bought it, so I am not too sure. If any of these updates are not satisfactory to any bidders, please email me and I will cancel your bid, Thank you! On Feb-10-15 at 05:10:00 PST, seller added the following information: Quick update: I added the post-detail pictures so you can see that it actually does shine up really nicely, save for the flawed parts that I mentioned. Unfortunately, Ebay won't allow me to put the detailed images in the front and delete the old images, so you'll have to scroll through the images to see the newest ones. I did a full shampoo on the inside too, so it is fresh and ready to go. Happy bidding! On Feb-10-15 at 05:13:35 PST, seller added the following information: One more update about the detail: I also treated the headlights to get the nasty yellow stuff off of them, so they should be clear for at least a few years. On Feb-10-15 at 05:19:56 PST, seller added the following information: Another update: Sorry, I forgot to mention that I added an image of the dual-pod, pillar-mounted gauge stack. Notice that one pod is empty; I just could never decide what to put in there, so you have an open slot if you so desire. The tube for the boost gauge is temporarily routed through the door jamb (been like that for years with no issues), as I didn't want to permanently mount it until I decided what would go in the second slot. So, you'll also need to run that through the firewall once you add your own second gauge. :)
